Iman Vellani, star of the highly anticipated Ms. Marvel series, has recently revealed that Chris Pratt offered his support and advice when it came to the preparation process for her role. Set to soon join Disney Plus' ever-growing list of MCU shows, Ms. Marvel will follow the story of Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager who feels rejected from both cultures that exist within her identity, feeling like an eternal outsider.

Due to her feeling a lack of belonging amongst her peers and family, Kamala utilizes the world of superheroes as her main form of escapism. A huge fan of MCU comics, fan-ficiton, and Captain Marvel in particular, Kamala soon starts to develop powers of her own. The Ms. Marvel show was created by Bisha K. Ali and will consist of six episodes total, which are set to be released on June 8th. The initial Ms. Marvel trailer did hint at what’s in store for Marvel fans, as well as illuminate some major differences between the upcoming series and the original comic book source material. Ms. Marvel seems to have reportedly been made to intentionally appeal more so to a younger demographic. This makes total sense, given that Kamala as a character is a part of the MCU's phase four, which has been steadily introducing the new generation of emerging heroes.

Kamala is only sixteen years old in the show, with the series making significant changes and alterations to the powers that she was known for possessing in the Ms. Marvel comics. Ms. Marvel is not the last that fans will be seeing from Vellani. The breakout star is also set to appear in the upcoming sequel to Captain Marvel, The Marvels, which isn’t expected to be released until 2023. The two initial roles are actually the first two major film credits the Canadian actress has received thus far in her career. Now, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Vellani revealed that several MCU actors have offered a helping hand throughout her crazy journey and the process that comes with embodying the role of a heroine.

"The day [Feige] came to set, I fully froze. He was trying to talk to me, and I stared at him until he left, and then I went back to my trailer and cried the hardest I’ve ever cried before. That was the most cathartic feeling ever," Vellani said. However, Vellani specifically made sure to name-drop Guardians of the Galaxy's Pratt, in particular. She stated, “He’s made himself so available for any help I would need in the future, so I shot him an email asking about press and stuff. He sent me this juggernaut of an email with so much advice and what’s gotten him through this.”

Due to the fact that Ms. Marvel is Vellani's first major acting role - paired with the overwhelming pressure of having millions of MCU fan’s expectations and eyes on her - it’s no wonder that her fellow Marvel co-stars joined forces to help her out. Pratt is an honored alum when it comes to the MCU at this point in his career. He is the epitome of the perfect mentor for Vellani to have right now at this crucial, exciting yet incredibly chaotic time in her life. Pratt has also become well accustomed to receiving harsh criticism and backlash from fans throughout the past several years. He knows how to take it with a grain of salt and not let it dominate his overall performance and thoughts - these are vital skills that he has passed down to Vellani.

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney Plus on June 8, 2022.
