Video games weren’t as popular as they are today, but they were popular enough to make the writer of this film think about what it would be if a young hacker managed to access a U.S. military supercomputer by mistake and play the most dangerous simulation game against the Soviets that could lead to WWIII.
6 Wreck-It Ralph
Wreck-It Ralph became quickly one of the most beloved animated films when it was released back in 2012, and its popularity is still going strong. Fans who love the anti-hero theme in movies couldn’t help but fall in love with this one.
Wreck-It Ralph is the villain of a platformer game, but he is not very happy with his role and wants to change it and become a hero. In his quest to win a medal, he accidentally creates havoc, but with a help of a “glitch,” he has a chance to save the day and become who he truly wants to be.

Until the ex-Rockstar producer makes what is described as “Real Life Ready Player One,” fans will have to make do with the original movie.
In 2045, OASIS, a virtual reality simulation, is an acceptable and highly popular way to escape the real world and its problems. But when the creator dies, he leaves clues to an Easter Egg that will provide the finder with not only his amazing fortune but total control of the OASIS world. Because of the power it can yield, a lot of people are after it – and not all of them are the good guys.
4 Free Guy
While waiting eagerly for Free Guy 2, the fans can rewatch the first Free Guy movie and marvel at its cleverness and fun. NPCs used to be characters everyone would ignore in games, but in the last couple of years, Non-Playable Characters are making their own comeback, whether it’s in gaming, YouTube comedy videos, or even big Hollywood movies.
A bank teller meets a woman who tells him he is an NPC. He decides to be the hero instead and tries to save his world from the evil one who wants to destroy it. Chaos ensues.

Tron came out in 1982, a year that the sci-fi genre was blooming like never before, and it left its own mark in the history of science fiction and adventure movies. In Tron, the story is not the only thing that amazed viewers. How Lisberger, the writer and director, decided to portray video game addiction, the first use of extensive CGI, and the incredible performances by the actors, are some of the ingredients that made this film a classic.
In the movie, a hacker gets transported into a software world, and he is forced to play dangerous games as he tries to find a way to escape.
2 Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle
The truth is that when the Jumanji reboot rumor started circulating, everyone expected that the movie was going to be a huge disaster. Who could remake the unforgettable story and the great acting again? But, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle managed to do it, and very well.
The premise is kept pretty much the same: four teenagers manage to get sucked into a video game, get the heroes’ identities, and the only way of escape is to finish the game and defeat all the bad guys. The graphics, the humor, and the clever cast made this reboot a definite must-watch, especially for the fans of the original movie.

This sci-fi comedy film didn’t win the hearts of the viewers the way the producers wanted it to, but it nevertheless remained in the minds of anyone who had watched it, mostly due to its amazing premise, and also because there are a lot of fans who love pixel art games.
Aliens are attacking the earth, but instead of looking like aliens, they misinterpret video feeds of classic arcade games. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and many others are enemies number one, and a weird little group of former arcade champions are the only ones that can stop them and save the world.
