Aside from the Resident Evil franchise, Capcom's Devil May Cry has played a massive factor in the studio's popularity with multiple different installments. With its most recent title Devil May Cry 5, Capcom was left with even more praise as most label the entry as the best out of all. It came with an expansion on the characters' combat moves and features, adding another layer of enjoyment to the stylish combat its predecessors always offered.

As much as players enjoy the game's combat and engaging hack and slash moments, there is also a fair share of extremely frustrating enemies the player must take on, and this is heightened with the range of difficulty levels.

6 Hell Antenora

Hell Antenora

These are the group enemies which are almost certainly set to give players a tough time regardless of how familiar they are with the game's mechanics. Given the way in which the player attacks this enemy, there is a high possibility that they will be met with a chargeback. This is evident once the Antenoras backs light up in purple.

With the help of the game's 'void mode' which is a practice arena for players to test their skills and acclimatize to enemies' attacks and patterns, this may help those who may find difficulty in defeating these enemies without losing too much health.

5 Behemoth

Behemoth

Similar to the Hell Antenoras, Capcom was able to create another enemy type that rushed at players which resulted in a mass amount of damage. To combat this, players would have to put together a string of attacks and combos that would break the Behemoth's armor.

Not only is this sometimes difficult to face alone, to begin with, but with the addition of other enemies alongside them makes for a challenge once caught off guard. Fans will know that this is one of the demons to target first when dealing with an onslaught of attacks.

4 Hellbat

When players finally get the opportunity to use Dante and do not have the option of controlling V or Nero, facing the Hellbats can introduce another layer of frustration. This is specifically due to their flight and fireball attacks, and Dante's inability to grab opponents like Nero.

Depending on whether players are familiar with using Dante and his weapons, they could potentially be met with a tough time in attempting to shut down these enemies before they can attack which can very easily end up in defeat. To help with this, fans will know that the use of Dante's 'Ebony and Ivory' and 'Coyote A'.

3 Riot

Riot

These are one of the more wild and most erratic enemies in Devil May Cry 5, as they can very quickly and swiftly attack the player in groups. Many fans will be aware that the best way to take them on is with the use of Nero, as he can use his special or new arm which is later available at the end of the story, to grab and throw them.

This helps contribute to stunning these enemies, giving players enough time to complete combos and eliminate each before being met with huge swipes and scratches of attacks. Just like many of the other frustrating opponents, it is most tough when there are multiple to take on simultaneously.

2 Empusa Queen

Empusa Queen

This is almost certainly one of the most frustrating enemies to face throughout all of the Devil May Cry titles, especially when charging right at the enemy with multiple sharp attacks. If players give these ant-like creatures enough time without defeating them, they will eventually use the blood of other enemies to move even faster and stronger.

Avoiding damage requires a decent level of skill and rapid action in finishing these demons before they can mutate, leaving for a much tougher task. These can be a huge hurdle when it comes down to players attempting to complete the game's 'Bloody Palace' arena.

1 Fury

Fury attacks

Out of all the tough encounters that fans will be familiar with, the 'Fury' enemies top them all. Regardless of the character fans are using, these enemies are extremely difficult to deal with as they move at a rapid pace and attack viciously. Despite each character having traits ready to combat them, they are very easy to be defeated if caught off guard. Many fans who have completed the 'Bloody Palace' mode or managed to get far enough to stage 70, will know that three of these enemies are present. Not only is this alone incredibly difficult to handle, but as stages increase so does the difficulty.

With the use of Dante's 'royal guard' ability, players can deflect and block oncoming attacks which is incredibly pivotal in the bout with these enemies. When using Nero, V, or Vergil, it is a whole lot more challenging as the only way of defense is to parry. Unlike all of the other enemies, the difficulty stems from their teleportation and momentary invisibility. Whilst this can be helped by practicing and adapting to their patterns, each encounter will almost certainly be accompanied by the need for patience and concentration from players.

Devil May Cry 5 is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
