Like most Soulslike games, Mortal Shell has a unique upgrade currency: Glimpse. By gathering Glimpses for each shell, players unlock new abilities and enhance their weapons. But as any Souls fan would guess, the item is rare, requiring a painstaking farming strategy. Luckily, Mortal Shell has nothing against save-scumming and force-spawning enemies. So, even beginner Mortal Shell players have a chance to earn extra Glimpses. The only question, however, is how? Read this guide to find out.

How to Get Glimpses in Mortal Shell

There are four primary methods for getting Glimpses in Mortal Shell: kill enemies, unlock hidden chests, consume potions, or beat the primary bosses. For extra Glimpses, force-spawn and defeat the two Grishas near the Fallgrime Tower.

Here’s every method for getting Glimpses in Mortal Shell.

  • Get Glimpses in random enemy drops

Any enemy in Mortal Shell may drop Glimpses upon dying. But it’s an RNG-based prize, and there’s no way to foretell the amount. To increase the chance of Glimpse drops by 10%, use the Bronze Bell.

  • Loot hidden chests

Multiple chests are scattered around Mortal Shell’s map that contain Glimpses. The trick is to unlock them during a fog—otherwise, they won’t open.

  • Drink Glimpses consumables

Items with the word “Glimpse” in their title grant the currency. The Glimpse of Affection, for example, gives 4.

  • Beat the boss fights

A foolproof way to earn Glimpses in Mortal Shell is by killing the main bosses. The game has seven major boss fights that can help players fully upgrade their weapons.

How to Farm Glimpses in Mortal Shell

To farm Glimpses in Mortal Shell, respawn the two forest Grishas by talking to Thestus in the Fallgrim Tower. Each Grisha grants 12 Glimpses, which can be doubled by repeating the spawn.

After beating the first zone boss, head to the Fallgrim Tower and locate Thestus. Interact with him, so he asks for a Glimpse, and then select “Yes.” He then creates the fog, which brings back two Grishas in the nearby forest. (Talk to him again to restart the fog or leave the area to stop it.)

The Thestus loop in Mortal Shell is the best way to farm Glimpses. But note that it costs two Glimpses to complete each farming session: one to activate the fog, another to stop it. In other words, players earn 12 Glimpses per run, which drops to 10 because they must reinvest two into the process.

Mortal Shell is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
