Mortal Kombat may be a longstanding game series that follows the same game formula time and time again, but fans never fail to impress when it comes to their new, innovative, fan-made creations. Recently, a Mortal Kombat fan and Redditor posted their Skarlet vampiress skin concept art that is realistic enough to be included in actual gameplay.

The most recent Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat 11, came out in 2019, with continuous DLC being added until recently. One of the newest characters added to the original cohorts of the Mortal Kombat series is Skarlet. Skarlet made her debut in the DLC of Mortal Kombat (2011), but became a substantial part of Mortal Kombat 11's list of playable characters. Skarlet is known for her vibrant red hair, as well as her black and red outfits; however, she is also known for her blood-related techniques in combat.

The Redditor initially posted their concept design claiming it was "a bit plain" and asked for feedback from viewers. Features of the Skarlet art included short brown hair, a fitted black body suit with pink symbols engraved, as well as metal shoulder plates, black gloves, and Skarlet's weapon of choice: a dagger. Many of those who commented on the Redditor's initial post offered comments of both praise and critique. Some comments included changes to the color of her skin, her attire, and potentially adding a mask.

After some time, the Redditor posted the "reVAMPed" version of the design with Skarlet now wearing a red body suit with fangs and blood trickling down her mouth more prominently, although many of the small details remain the same. Praises once again were given to this newly revised art and was even noted by some comments that Mortal Kombat fan art and cosplay like this needs to be taken more seriously for upcoming game creation(s).

Fans of Skarlet speculate that she may be indeed a vampire, due to her blood-thirsty moves and emphasis of the color red. Not to mention the fact that Skarlet is a creation of the Mortal Kombat villain Shao Khan and uses her magical powers as a vampire would. Although this vampiress concept art is promising, there is no confirmation from the Mortal Kombat team that Skarlet is an actual vampire.

There seem to be many fan-created works based on Skarlet, but it remains to be seen if she'll be a series classic or a forgotten Mortal Kombat character in the future. Fans will have to convince the developers that Skarlet is a worthy character for more content and gameplay additions. Otherwise, gamers may never see Skarlet's vampire theory come to fruition.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
