The Mortal Kombat movie reboot has been making rounds among fans as of late with its success bringing notice to the characters’ qualities as well. With so many of these showing up, it’s natural that the characters all had their own personality traits to show off.
One of the best ways to see if your personality relates to a character is through zodiac signs. These can indicate what a person has in common with others. Of course, many of the characters found in Mortal Kombat are villains so their traits are those that represent the extreme levels of zodiac sign personalities but it’s still fun to check out the similarities.
12 Sagittarius: Liu Kang
Sagittarius personalities are straightforward and honest individuals who don’t dilly dally from their tasks along with remaining fixed on their goals. Liu Kang didn’t get to do as much in the movie as his role as the series’ story should warrant but he retained this trait.
Liu Kang was set in his role as an Earthrealm champion and remained with this mentality throughout the story. He didn’t waste time in any niceties or go through seeds of doubt. All in all, Liu Kang stayed true to the straightforward Sagittarius mentality.
11 Virgo: Scorpion
In a change from the norm, Scorpion wasn’t presented as a villain in the reboot. In its place, he was shown as a tragic figure who lost his family. However, he still played close to the Virgo personality trait of people being driven by their rage.
Virgo is one of the angrier zodiac personalities out there, with those born under this sign determined to right the wrongs they feel has been done to them. Scorpion also returned as a vengeful specter, playing true to Virgo personalities.
10 Leo: Raiden
Leo personalities are those who are fierce but have a degree of control over their emotions. Raiden is the mentor figure in Mortal Kombat but is no one to scoff at, being one of the more powerful characters in the series along with his longevity.
Leos can also have leadership skills within them, which is how Raiden conducted himself as well. He was the facilitator for the events shown in the movie and the one who guided the rest of the characters.
9 Scorpio: Sonya Blade
Those born under this sign can be true badasses with their no-nonsense personas. Sonya Blade has always been presented in such a way, having the spirit of a fighter who doesn’t give up while refusing to suffer fools.
The movie saw her go up against enemies she clearly couldn’t contend with but still resolved to fight against. This kind of resolve is what tough Scorpios can relate to, as Sonya showed she wouldn’t back down.
8 Cancer: Kano
Cancer personalities don’t prefer to be at the center of conflict but can become the stuff of nightmares if they do dive headfirst into it. Kano's a generally underused character who showed a kind of reluctance in his villainous activities during the movie, although he became a force once he was convinced by Kabal to defect.
Those with the traits of the Cancer zodiac can be unyielding once their minds are made up, with just about nothing to stop them. Kano had decided to follow through with his plans once he was on board even though it ultimately cost him his life.
7 Gemini:Â Mileena
Gemini personalities can never be taken lightly as they carry a particularly vicious streak if need be. They can attack in ways most won’t see coming due to Geminis’ dual nature, with those who fall under the more ruthless side being none to trifle with.
Mileena was a threat from start to finish in the reboot movie and was one of Shang Tsung’s underlings. She reveled in her brutality by using unorthodox techniques. As Geminis know, being unorthodox is a common trait among them.
6 Aquarius: Goro
Aquarius people are offbeat and unconventional, with these personalities among the most difficult to understand. Goro is someone who clearly falls under this as well, being a hulking freak of nature who’s unlike anything the heroes faced.
Goro didn’t like conforming to the peaceful outlook of the main characters, with his nonconformist attitude also something he shares with Aquarius personalities. Goro can be seen as an extreme version of this zodiac sign.
5 Capricorn: Shang Tsung
The ultimate villain in the Mortal Kombat series is the one who was pulling all the strings in the Mortal Kombat reboot. Capricorn personalities have a natural leadership quality that goes well with their need to have everything according to their preferences.
Shang Tsung can be an example of a Capricorn gone evil, as he needs total control but can also handle a lot of people under his employ. Capricorns usually like things well organized and Shang Tsung definitely keeps everyone in line.
4 Pisces: Jax
Pisces personalities are amiable who like to stick by people they can trust. They’re generally mellow but can go the opposite direction if they are pushed too far. Jax’s arc in the movie saw him overcome the loss of his arms thanks to the support of his friends.
He then became a true fighter who helped the heroes in their quest, displaying the kind of loyalty that people under the Pisces sign usually have. He was also able to adapt himself to his new environment, much like the zodiac sign trait.
3 Libra:Â Kung Lao
Those born under the Libra sign generally have the most friends thanks to their accustoming personalities. Kung Lao was a solid friend in the movie, which is how he is in the games as well that reflects the traits of a Libra zodiac.
Kung Lao ultimately sacrificed himself for his friends, something that Libras can relate to as these people place their friends in high esteem. Libra personalities are usually the heart of the group and Lao’s role was just this in the movie.
2 Taurus: Sub-Zero
The reboot changed Sub-Zero’s usual backstory to make him out as a bad guy in the movie. Even so, he retained his relatively calm demeanor despite having conducted acts of villainy. Taurus personalities are the ones you’ll find to be the quietest.
People of this zodiac sign generally go about their activities with minimal effort, with Sub-Zero also being at ease for the most part in the movie. Taurus people also collaborate well with others and Sub-Zero’s association with Shang Tsung can be perceived this way.

Aries personalities have a thirst to prove themselves, being filled with fiery mentalities and true grit. Cole was placed as the protagonist of the reboot movie with his hero’s journey comprising his seeking out the truth of his ancestry.
Cole was an uncomplicated person motivated by his desire to uncover his backstory while retaining his sense of honor. All these are traits of the ideal Aries personality, with most who resemble the character that Cole displayed coming across as the heroes in their own stories.
