Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, which was announced only a week ago, is not only bringing NetherRealm's gore-tastic series to next generation consoles, but it is also adding what are most likely the final three MK11 DLC characters: Rain, Mileena, and Rambo.

Between Mileena being quite possibly the most heavily demanded character to be included in Mortal Kombat 11 and Rambo bringing both another big movie crossover to the game and having the star power of being voiced by Sylvester Stallone, Rain was arguably overshadowed despite being a decently popular character in his own right. As if to make up for it, NetherRealm has released a new trailer centered all around Rain,

Naturally, Rain's moveset primarily consists of water-based attacks and even some his regular punches and kicks have a watery effect behind them. However, he appears to be able to do a lot more than just make his opponents wet. He can make miniature tidal waves to hit distant opponents or trap them in a bubble.

He also has control over storms, capable of creating a storm cloud that zaps his opponent with electricity. At one point, he seems to fire purple lightning bolts himself. As for defensive options, it looks like he can turn his entire body into water, which grants him brief invincibility. The biggest change to Rain, though, is his new bladed weapon, which is apparently meant to be a jamadhar or katar, a type of Indian dagger. During the opening, he's also seen emerging from a portal made of water, though he doesn't use any portals during gameplay. Said opening against Kotal Khan has them mention Reptile and Ermac, both of whom are absent from Mortal Kombat 11.

As for his Fatality, it's suitably gruesome, making a water buzz saw to slice his opponent up, followed up by firing a high-pressure blast of water so strong that it tears their skin off, and then catching their eyes in a bubble.

The trailer also gives fans a first listen at this new voice actor. This is his fourth one, with it changing with every new appearance he makes. Instead of Mortal Kombat X's Andrew Bowen (who also voiced Johnny Cage in that game and reprised it for MK 11), Rain is portrayed by Dempsey Pappion, who has previously provided voices for games like Need for Speed: Heat and Dota 2.

While Mortal Kombat 11 is likely nearing its end, fans are still convinced that an Injustice 3 is in the works. It wouldn't be too surprising, especially considering that the Injustice storyline is still being developed in a prequel comic series.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will release for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on November 17th.
