Mortal Kombat 11 and its predecessor are currently the top fighting games on PS4 and Xbox One, and it's pretty easy to see why. Not only is a mostly well-balanced fighting game, but it takes long-running series formulas and takes them up a notch. Case in point: MK11's fatalities can be completely mind-blowing and even an improvement over past iterations.

Of course, it depends on which character is being played and then what fatality is being used, but for those interested in the most mind-blowing fatalities to perform on friend, here are the top 5 in Mortal Kombat 11.

Frost's Ice Sculpture

This Cyborg/Cryomancer has a chip on her shoulder in Mortal Kombat 11, seemingly beyond determined to restore the Lin Kuei to their former glory (in her eyes). This rage manifests itself in her fatalities, where Ice Sculpture stands out the most. As seen above, she sticks an ice drill through her opponent's head and gut, holding them with the head but leaving their gut exposed to a freezing grenade, which explodes as she pulls away and leaves behind an "interesting" ice sculpture.

Erron Black's Death Trap

Of all the Mortal Kombat 11 items here, Erron Black's Death Trap is likely the more literally mind-blowing. Most of his moves revolve around his role as a gunslinger, and Death Trap is no exception. First, he throws a trap that rips out the target's torso and follows it up with a gunshot to the head through the gaping hole in the torso. It's rather simple compared to other Mortal Kombat 11 fatalities, but it is effective.

D'vorah's New Species

Unlike Erron Black's simple and sweet fatality, D'vorah's New Species is gross, mind-blowing, and perhaps even vomit-inducing. D'vorah knocks her opponents to their knees, vomits into their mouth, and a "new species" of bug rips out of the opponent. It uses their former torso as its own with D'vorah-like limb's ripping out to walk and a brand new head ripping out where the Mortal Kombat 11 opponent's head used to be.

Geras' Peeling Back

Geras' Peeling Back finds itself in-between Erron Black and D'vorah's aforementioned fatalities, as it it as simple as the first but nearly as disgusting as the second. Geras really only makes three movements during this attack: a sand fist to punch the opponent into a wall, a kick to hold them onto the wall, and then a nice grab at the skin on the end of one arm. The entire front half of the opponent's body is then ripped off, leaving organs and more flying everywhere in Mortal Kombat 11.

Kabal's Road Rash

Kabal rounds off this list with his Road Rash fatality, which admittedly has some hilarious animation to it, but that doesn't really stop the fatality whatsoever. In it, Kabal drags his opponents at high speed, ripping his opponent's face off before throwing them midair and coming back form the other side to split them in two.

Regardless of a personal favorite, what's clear about fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11 is that NetherRealm Studios stepped it up a notch. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues with DLC characters, as it has so far, as Joker comes out next month and fans may be ready to see more of the Joker's redesign.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
