Many players have enjoyed Mortal Kombat 11 as it has delivered the bloody fighting that fans have come to expect from the franchise. Mortal Kombat 11 was met with positive reviews and the game has continued to add features that have made it a title with considerable longevity. The upcoming DC Fandome event has recently released a trailer that suggests that more content will be coming to the fighting game.

While Mortal Kombat is not a DC franchise, the series is developed by Warner Bros. Games who also have the rights to the Batman games. Furthermore, both franchises fall under the umbrella of the parent company AT&T. With this in mind, it is not improbable that a crossover could occur at the event but it does raise questions about the future of the game and the franchise as speculation grows about AT&T selling the development studio Warner Bros. Games.

In the trailer advertising the  DC Fandome event, that takes place August 22, there was an image of Baraka although it is only for a split second. The character is dressed in Killer Croc's Elseworld skin and this seems to be why the character is featured. However, in terms of what content will be announced at this event, there is a great deal of uncertainty. Mortal Kombat 11 has already expanded its character roster multiple times, and while this has provided new content, players may hope for another title or more sizable DLC. While some will hope for new content there will be just as many are hoping that they will get more clarity to the future of the Warner Bros. Games franchises at this event.

There have already been leaks that suggest a new Batman title will be announced but with a possible sale of the development team it is unclear how titles will be supported or even released. While these gaming franchises have a considerable fan base, there have been talks of the development team being absorbed by EA to work on a completely new title. While the future of these games looks uncertain, the fact that Mortal Kombat features in the trailer is likely a good sign in terms of the future of the franchise.

The Mortal Kombat franchise will undoubtedly continue because it is too profitable for it to be simply discarded. However, how the franchise continues is yet to be seen and many will hope that they will see more content for Mortal Kombat 11 or a statement about the future of the franchise at this event.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
