Mortal Kombat 1 is among this year's most anticipated titles. Following Liu Kang's reinvention of the series' universe, the door has been opened for new and exciting versions of fan-favorite characters to take the spotlight. However, the past few months have seen that spotlight shift toward Mortal Kombat 1's DLC fighters, an element that is usually focused upon post-release. Mortal Kombat 1's DLC packs have been the subject of online leaks, each revealing additions to the main roster and new Kameo fighters. Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on September 19, 2023, and will serve as a reboot of the series' lore and characters. Mortal Kombat 1's Leaked DLC 2 Includes the Doomslayer

Mortal Kombat 1's most recent leaks have seemingly revealed the full slate of fighters for its second DLC pack. Included among them are DOOM's titular Doomslayer, one of modern gaming's most popular and hyper-violent figures. Doomslayer's Mortal Kombat debut was a long time coming, as fans have been requesting his inclusion in the series' modern entries since the character's pop culture revival in 2016. Additionally, the leak revealed that Noob Saibot, Kano, Sareena, Harley Quinn, and Deathstroke will also feature among the DLC's roster additions, bringing two fighters from Netherealm Studios Injustice series into the fold.

Doomslayer's leaked appearance in Mortal Kombat 1 follows rumors that the character was among those considered for release as a fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. Many fans believed that a trailer for DOOM: Eternal was hinting at the character making the jump to Mortal Kombat, but the character did not make the cut. Ed Boon, the creator behind Mortal Kombat, joked that the character was too violent. Four years later, Mortal Kombat 1's DLC pack 2 leaks have kick-started fans' hopes yet again.

Doomslayer is Perfect for Mortal Kombat 1's DLC Roster

Doomslayer is the perfect addition to Mortal Kombat 1's roster, as the DOOM series' most recent entries have cemented the character as one of gaming's most ruthlessly efficient killers. Doomslayer's arsenal also provides a possible Mortal Kombat 1 iteration with a unique set of skills. Wielding a shotgun, heavy cannon, chainsaw, and crucible blade, Doomslayer could prove formidable from a variety of ranges, making him a well-rounded fighter for players of all experience levels. The BFG, the DOOM series' ultimate weapon, could be perfectly featured among the character's Mortal Kombat 1 fatalities.

Another factor that makes the Doomslayer a perfect addition to Mortal Kombat 1's roster is the DOOM series' longevity. The very first DOOM title was released a little over a year after Mortal Kombat's debut in 1992, allowing the two franchises to share a similar legacy. Both Mortal Kombat and DOOM were incredibly violent and mature games for their time, and many fans of one would drift to the other. If Doomslayer appears in Mortal Kombat 1, it will mark the first partnership in both series' 30-year history, providing a dream come true for longtime fans of each.
