Over the past few years, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has garnered a reputation for playing with the expectations of fans on his Twitter account. Shortly after MK1 was released back in September, Boon posted an image that seriously opened up speculation within the fanbase. The photo featured several of the horror genre’s most popular killer characters, acknowledging the previous appearances of Freddy Krueger in MK9 along with Jason Voorhees and Leatherface in MKX, but the remaining characters were annotated with question marks that indicate their potential future as DLC.

Following up on his previous tease, Boon would take to Twitter yet again in November to hint at horror-themed DLC characters. The post featured a gif of people dressed as various characters dancing alongside the caption “Kombat Pack 2 (just kidding)”.
