Highlights

  • Peacemaker's DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 may have been delayed, potentially pushing back its release date to the end of the month.
  • The delay is suggested by the extension of the current Kombat League countdown timer until February 28.
  • While not officially confirmed, it is likely that Peacemaker will be released alongside the start of Invasion Season 4.

Fans eager to fight through Mortal Kombat 1 as DC antihero Peacemaker might have to wait a little while longer than planned, as a new report suggests that his designated DLC has been delayed. Ever since 2011’s Mortal Kombat 9, NetherRelam has been adding characters from famous TV shows, films, and comics to its fighting game universe, and last year’s Mortal Kombat 1 is continuing the trend by featuring villains and antiheroes from recent comic adaptations. The bloodthirsty Viltrumite warrior Omni-Man from Invincible flew into Mortal Kombat 1 back in November, and the similarly-powered villain Homelander of The Boys fame is reportedly being released sometime this spring.

Before that, DC Comics’ Peacemaker is set to bring his own brand of ruthless aggression to Mortal Kombat 1 as the third guest character in the Kombat Pack 1 DLC collection. A relatively small player in the DC Universe, Christopher Smith recently found renewed notoriety thanks to his appearances in the DC Extended Universe in both The Suicide Squad and the later Peacemaker spin-off series. This version of the character, played by WWE 2K23 cover star John Cena, was announced as part of the initial MK 1 DLC wave last July, with some fans later theorizing that he would be released in early access on February 13.

Other DC Characters Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Should Feature

Peacemaker is confirmed to be coming to Mortal Kombat 1 in its first Kombat Pack, and there are a few other DC characters that should make the trip.

This might not be the case, as Twitter user iScreamFGC recently spotted a clue that Mortal Kombat 1’s Peacemaker DLC has been delayed. According to them, the official countdown timer for the current Kombat League has been extended until February 28, meaning that the fourth MK 1 Invasion season won’t begin until then. As both Omni-Man and returning MK1 DLC character Quan Chi were released alongside a new Invasion season, it stands to reason that Peacemaker won’t be added to the game until then.

MK 1’s Peacemaker DLC Could Be Delayed

Of course, NetherRealm hasn’t officially confirmed that Peacemaker would be added at the same time as Invasion Season 4, so the DLC character could be released on a separate date. Furthermore, the developer never gave an exact date for when Peacemaker would be released, with the aforementioned February 13 date being a fan estimate drawn from past MK 1 DLC release patterns. All NetherRealm revealed in an official capacity is that Peacemaker would be released in “Winter,” a broad time frame that the newly reported February 28 launch date still falls under.

In any case, it looks like players might have to wait a few more weeks to see Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1, at least if this recent leak about Season 4 being held back until February 28 is correct. Peacemaker is far from the only Mortal Kombat 1 DLC character waiting in the wings, as he will be followed by MK 1 supporting character Ermac, the previously mentioned Homelander, and returning Mortal Kombat X combatant Takeda Takahashi as part of Kombat Pack 1.
