In the rebooted world of Mortal Kombat 1, players will be able to complete a number of new Brutalities and Fatalities with all the fighters. These hyper-violent round-enders are unique for each character, and they each require pressing several buttons in a specific order. However, if players pause the screen in the middle of a round and look at the basic moves for each character, there is something called an Easy Fatality that only requires two button presses. But they don't always work.

The pause menu in the middle of a round will show the most basic moves as well as a full moveset for each character, kontrols, and other information. In the bottom part of the move list quick reference screen, there is a subcategory called "Easy Fatalities." On PlayStation for example, this combo is usually the just the R2 bumper and X. Since this is a lot easier than trying to press the several buttons in a row usually needed for a Fatality, players might be tempted to try them out, only to have it not work when they press the required buttons. In order to get them to work, players will need something else as well.

How to Use Easy Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1

Easy Fatalities can only be used if the player already owns a currency called Easy Fatality Tokens. Without these Tokens, the Easy Fatalities won't work at all. The Tokens can only be purchased in the Mortal Kombat 1 store, and they can only be bought with the premium currency called Dragon Crystals.

  • 5 Easy Fatality Tokens: 100 Dragon Crystals
  • 40 Easy Fatality Tokens: 800 Dragon Crystals
  • 100 Easy Fatality Tokens: 2,000 Dragon Crystals

While MK fans who purchased the Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 1 will have some of this premium currency when they begin playing, those who purchased the basic edition will have to use real money to get any. Once the Easy Fatality Tokens have been purchased, they will show up in the bottom-right corner of the move list quick reference screen, letting the player know how many they have left to use.

This means next time an enemy is swaying, and the voice-over commands the character to Finish Him or Finish Her, players will be ready with a quick and easy way to perform a brutal Fatality to earn that extra XP and get a little closer to unlocking all the Kameos in MK1.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series S/X.
