Mortal Kombat 1 game director Ed Boon recently took to Twitter to troll fans about Kombat Pack 2. Mortal Kombat 1 has so far released one character from Kombat Pack 1, with Invincible's Omni-Man recently joining the roster, so it will likely be quite some time before fans hear about Kombat Pack 2 in any official capacity.

After Omni-Man, there are five more playable characters on the way for Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 1. Quan Chi is set to release in winter 2023/2024, while Peacemaker, specifically the version seen in the DCEU, is scheduled to drop in the same release window. Ermac and The Boys' Homelander will follow in spring 2024. The final DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1 will be Takeda Takahashi, joining the roster in summer 2024.

Mortal Kombat 1 is adding a disgusting Thanksgiving fatality to the fighting game that is only available to those willing to pay for it.

Even though a Kombat Pack 2 has not been announced for Mortal Kombat 1 at the time of this writing, many fans assume that it is on the way. After all, it was previously suggested that Mortal Kombat 1 will be supported longer than MK11, and that game had two Kombat Packs plus the Aftermath expansion. While fans likely won't learn more about a potential Kombat Pack 2 until next year, game director Ed Boon took to Twitter to troll fans by posting a gif of people dressed like iconic horror villains Michael Myers, Pennywise, Jason Voorhees, and Ghostface. Boon accompanied the gif with "Kombat Pack 2 (just kidding)."

Notably, this is not the first time Ed Boon has trolled fans about Pennywise being in Mortal Kombat. Years ago, Boon joked about Pennywise coming to Mortal Kombat 11, though that never happened. And since the Kombat Pack 2 character have already leaked, fans shouldn't hold their breath that Pennywise will be part of it.

Fans should obviously take the leaks with a massive grain of salt, but it's been claimed that Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 2 will feature Deathstroke, Doomslayer, Harley Quinn, Kano, Noob Saibot, and Sareena. Deathstroke and Harley Quinn would make a great deal of sense, as they fit with the MK1 guest fighter comic book theme, but fans should still avoid getting their hopes up. While there have been many accurate Mortal Kombat leaks in the past, some "leaked" characters, like Evil Dead's Ash Williams, never actually make it to the game.

MK1 Kombat Pack 2 Leaks

  • Deathstroke
  • Doomslayer
  • Harley Quinn
  • Kano
  • Noob Saibot
  • Sareena
  • Bo' Rai Cho (Kameo)
  • Drahmin (Kameo)
  • Hsu Hao (Kameo)
  • Moloch (Kameo)
  • Rain (Kameo)

It would also be surprising for NetherRealm to dip back into the horror movie realm for Mortal Kombat guest characters, as that angle was already covered by Mortal Kombat X. As fans may recall, Mortal Kombat X featured Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, the Xenomorph from Alien, and Predator as part of its lineup. Prior to that, the 2011 Mortal Kombat game had Freddy Krueger of A Nightmare on Elm Street fame on the roster. So while there's a chance NetherRealm may one day return to horror movies for its guest fighters, it's unlikely to happen at any point in the near future.
