With the release of Mortal Kombat 1 now only a few months away, many gamers are eagerly counting down the days until the launch of the next entry in NetherRealm Studios’ storied fighting franchise. As franchise fans debate over which of the storied series’ signature fighters they want to take control of first amidst the pre-release excitement, deciding which version of Mortal Kombat1 to buy could prove to be a far more difficult decision for many gamers. For the series’ most hardcore fans, or simply those with some cash to burn and an empty space on a shelf already brimming with gaming gear, the Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s edition may be impossible to pass up.

Mortal Kombat 1 – Kollector’s Edition Bonuses

Mortal Kombat 1 Kollectors Edition

Packed in a stylish Kollector box and available to players pre-ordering the game on either Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5, the $249.99 Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition immediately stands out from the other editions of the game. Once players open the box, they’ll be greeted with what is likely to be the most appealing part of the bundle for many buyers: a 16.5” tall statue of Fire God Liu Kang flanked by dragons. Players also receive a limited-edition Liu Kang in-game color variant themed after the statue included in the bundle. While the massive statue designed by COARSE is the centerpiece of the Kollector’s edition, it’s far from the only nice bonus included in the bundle.

Other items limited to the Kollector’s edition include a series of COARSE art prints depicting different Mortal Kombat 1 characters and an exclusive steelbook case to hold the physical copy of the game included with the bundle. Those who purchase the Kollector’s edition also gain five days of early access to Mortal Kombat 1 ahead of the game’s launch, early access to future DLC characters, and the Kombat Pack that adds six playable characters, five Kameo fighters, and the hilariously meta Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Hollywood-star-turned-combatant Johnny Cage. Sweetening the deal, the wallet-busting bundle also includes 2,700 Dragon Krystals which serve as in-game currency.

Mortal Kombat 1’s Kollector’s Edition’s Perks May Justify its Price for Some Gamers

Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Leaks

The inclusion of early access to DLC fighters, which is also available to buyers of Mortal Kombat 1’s Premium edition, ensures that those who purchase the Kollector’s edition will have new content coming their way for the foreseeable future. For gamers already planning on purchasing additional fighters to fill out their roster, gaining early access to the first round of new fighters could definitely be appealing. With recent leaks suggesting that the sociopathic superheroes Omni-Man and Homelander are coming to Mortal Kombat 1, it’s a safe bet that any future DLC fighters will be just as deadly as the series’ usual cast of killer characters.

The eye-watering price of Mortal Kombat 1’s Kollector’s edition is certainly a big ask of players but, for some hardcore fans of the NetherRealm Studios’ fighting franchise, its many included bonuses may make it worth the price of admission. If nothing else, at least the Dragon Krystals included in the bundle may help take some of the sting out of the Mortal Kombat 1’s microtransactions.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19, 2023, for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
