Mortal Kombat 1 has revealed the Jean-Claude Van Damme Skin for Johnny Cage. Players eagerly await for Mortal Kombat 1, and as the game's release draws closer, more exciting news keeps coming.

While NetherRealm Studios continues to announce characters for Mortal Kombat 1, players still don't know much about the game's skins. Mortal Kombat 1 currently has only three confirmed skins: the Día de Muertos skin for Sub-Zero, and a skin for Tanya based on Brazilian funk culture. The third skin will turn Johnny Cage into Jean-Claude Van Damme, but its appearance wasn't known until now.

Mortal Kombat 1 showed the first footage of Jean-Claude Van Damme's skin for Johnny Cage during Ed Boon's appearance on the YouTube channel First We Feast's Hot One program. At the 5:52 mark of the video, fans can see Van Damme's skin for a few seconds, which Mortal Kombat 1 announced in May as part of the Premium Edition. Although the skin only appears briefly, players can see Johnny Cage sporting a look similar to Van Damme's in the movie Bloodsport. During the interview, Ed Boon revealed that when they made the first Mortal Kombat, the idea was to make "Van Damme: The Arcade Game," but the collaboration didn't go ahead. This time Boon says they "hit the lottery," because, in addition to Van Damme's participation as a skin, the actor will voice it.

As well as finally revealing the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Mortal Kombat 1, Ed Boon talked about various subjects such as the narrative in fighting games, and his beginnings with the original Mortal Kombat. Boon says that only four people worked on what would become one of the most influential fighting games of all time. Decades later, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat reveals that hundreds of people are working on Mortal Kombat 1, and talks about how advances in technology have made it possible to create an even more elaborate game.

Jean-Claude Van Damme's appearance in Mortal Kombat 1 ends a long wait, and curiously, brings together three famous names from action movies in the same franchise. While Van Damme will appear as a skin, players will remember that Sylvester Stallone appeared as John Rambo in Mortal Kombat 11, the same game where Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared as The Terminator. For Mortal Kombat 1, players are waiting to see what surprises the game has in store for the long run in terms of characters and skins.

Mortal Kombat 1 will launch on September 19 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
