  • Alleged leaks have surfaced regarding Mortal Kombat 1's second Kombat Pack, providing possible insight into future DLC content.
  • The current roster for Mortal Kombat 1 already boasts a solid lineup, including classic characters and surprise guest fighters. If this second DLC pack's roster is legitimate, players could control Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, the Doomslayer, Sareena, Kano, and Noob Saibot.
  • While the rumored fighters for the next DLC wave seem reasonable, there are a few questionable choices for Kameo fighters like the unpopular Hsu Hao, and it may be too early to speculate anyway since the game has not been released.

There are already alleged leaks for Mortal Kombat 1's second Kombat Pack, and a few of the names involved are worth discussing. Of course, with the game itself not even released yet, leaks of DLC, particularly expansions planned for well into the future, are quite unexpected. It would be hard to blame those anticipating Mortal Kombat 1 for being skeptical of such claims coming out so soon. However, the leaks are worth looking into and analyzing for a potential look at the game's future. Comparing them to existing knowledge could provide something of a picture for what is to come.

Ever since the game's announcement, characters have been confirmed for Mortal Kombat 1 at a gradual pace. Thus far, the cast largely consists of classic characters from the series' early days, but a few characters from later installments have found their way into the roster as well. Even Geras, who debuted in Mortal Kombat 11, made a surprise appearance on the roster. That's not including the fighters that were revealed when the first Kombat Pack leaked, which included some notable guest fighters to ensure that tradition still lives. Mortal Kombat 1 has already secured a respectable roster well ahead of its release date.

Mortal Kombat 1's New DLC Rumors Offer Intriguing Possibilities

Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Leaks

Speculation on the game has continued to swirl even after Mortal Kombat 1's first DLC fighters were revealed officially, confirming the initial leaks correct. However, a leaker has announced a second set of fighters for what should be the game's next DLC wave, including many interesting names. Allegedly, Noob Saibot, Kano, and Sareena will join the playable roster alongside guest fighters Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, and Doomslayer. The other half of the leak claims that Rain, Bo Rai Cho, Drahmin, Moloch, and Hsu Hao will be added to the list of Kameo fighters. Although unconfirmed, the list features both unsurprising as well as unexpected names.

Several of the proposed fighters make perfect sense. In particular, with the debut of Peacemaker as Mortal Kombat 1 DLC, Harley Quinn makes perfect sense as an addition, especially since an outfit based on her was in Mortal Kombat 11 for Cassie Cage. Deathstroke makes sense as well, as an additional DLC character, and Doomslayer's fame as the star of DOOM also makes a good case. Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat icons like Kano and Quan Chi feel like natural additions, especially with Kano already confirmed as a Kameo fighter. Overall, most of the fighters listed seem like reasonable choices to join the roster.

Although the list of potential fighters is exciting, there are a few details that are worth questioning about Mortal Kombat 1's new leak rumors. The main name that sticks out is Hsu Hao, who has an infamous reputation as one of the most hated fighters in the series, with even developers speaking ill of him. He's one of the last characters that one would expect to return, even in a limited quality. Drahmin and Moloch are also questionable additions, being unexciting fighters despite previous storyline roles. Not to mention, the game isn't even out yet, so speculating on the second DLC wave may be too soon.

Mortal Kombat 1 is a highly anticipated title, and the continued rumors of DLC fighters are only further fueling the fire. It's still worth hoping for some surprise fighter reveals for Mortal Kombat 1, which is one good explanation for why these rumors draw so much attention. The first leak turning out to be true also does plenty of work to make this new rumor sound enticing, especially with some of the names involved. The future for Mortal Kombat 1 sounds interesting, but only an official confirmation from Netherrealm will show if any of the rumored fighters will make it in.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
