Dataminers have uncovered clues about future DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 1, hinting at a mix of established MK characters and special guests. Since 2011’s Mortal Kombat 9, NetherRealm has bolstered each installment’s roster with a series of post-launch DLC fighters - with many of them hailing from other famous media. Mortal Kombat 10 featured iconic movie slashers like Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, while Mortal Kombat 11 saw an invasion from 80s and 90s action heroes like the T-800 Terminator and John Rambo.

This tradition will continue in Mortal Kombat 1, as NetherRealm confirmed the game’s first wave of DLC back in July. This initial Kombat Pack 1 will bring about the return of Mortal Kombat mainstays like Takeda, Quan-Chi, and Ermac, as well as a trio of guest characters in DC’s Peacemaker, Homelander from The Boys, and Omni-Man of Invincible fame. Another batch of DLC characters was leaked not too long after, with this rumored MK 1 Kombat Pack 2 said to contain Noob Saibot, Kano, and Sareena alongside noted DC villains Harley Quinn and Deathstroke and the Doomslayer from Doom.

Even more future Mortal Kombat 1 DLC characters might have been revealed by a dataminer under the handle of thethiny. In a recent Twitter post, they claim to have uncovered audio from the game’s intro cutscenes that reference the previously rumored Noob Saibat, Cyrax in his robot form, Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, Kotal Khan, Mortal Kombat's often-requested Jade, and an unnamed female character. For guest characters, this leak mentions the infamous Ghostface Killer from the Scream films, Conan the Barbarian, and even He-Man.

Other dataminers have supported thethiny’s findings with their own Mortal Kombat 1 discoveries, and some of them have found clues that Robert Patrick’s shape-shifting T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgement Day could also make an appearance at some point. These dataminers have also uncovered hints about special Mortal Kombat 1 Fatalities tied to seasons like Halloween. Of course, these claims remain unverified, and thethiny notes that they are still gathering evidence to be posted at a later date.

Hence, any unconfirmed rumors surrounding future Mortal Kombat 1 DLC characters should be taken with healthy skepticism until more concrete word from NetherRealm. However, it is worth pointing out that some of these rumored characters, like Conan the Barbarian and Jade, have been hinted at in the past - and others like Ghostface do fit with previous Mortal Kombat guest fighters. Only time will tell who gets added to Mortal Kombat 1 after it launches in full later this week, but there are already plenty of interesting names being thrown around.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now in early-access, and launches September 19 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
