As games continue to bigger and better, AAA developers need to keep increasing their employee count, and the larger the net, the more likely it is that information will start to slip through. Leaks have become an unavoidable aspect of the modern video game industry, and while they've always been around, they've definitely become a lot more prevalent in the last decade or so. Nowadays, it seems nearly impossible for a high-profile game to actually reach its official announcement without it already being leaked days or weeks before, and that was certainly the case with Mortal Kombat 1.

Though it was officially announced on May 18, 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 was first leaked to the public during a Warner Bros. financial report all the way back in February. Now everything is out in the open, and Mortal Kombat 1 is slated for a September 19, 2023, release, but even then a few leaks have continued to sprout up - all of which revolve around Mortal Kombat 1's potential DLC characters.

Every Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Leak So Far

Mortal Kombat 1 Sub Zero Kenshi

Back on May 11 of this year, Mortal Kombat 1 received its first full leak. Twitter user billbil-kun claimed that they had received confirmation that the next Mortal Kombat entry would be named Mortal Kombat 1, and that it would be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch, with three different editions. This leak also claimed that The Boys' Homelander and DC's Peacemaker would be coming to the game as DLC fighters, though even they stated that this information was unconfirmed.

On May 19, just one day after Mortal Kombat 1's official announcement, the game would receive its huge next leak, this time not only suggesting two DLC fighters, but the entire contents of the game's first Kombat Pack, Kameo fighters and all. Coming from an Amazon Italy product listing that's since been replaced with the official product description, Mortal Kombat 1 will receive six playable characters in its first Kombat Pack. These characters include Mortal Kombat franchise staples like Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda, but also three guest characters, those being the aforementioned Homelander, Peacemaker, and Invincible's Omni Man.

According to this Amazon listing, Mortal Kombat 1's Kombat Pack will also include five Kameo fighters. For those unaware, these Kameo fighters aren't fully playable characters, but secondary fighters that can be used in a match to perform combo-continuing special moves. According to the leak, these five Kameo fighters will be Tremor, Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, and Ferra. While new Mortal Kombat fans will recognize Johnny Cage, Ferra and Tremor, they might not know about the other two, with them having not appeared in the reboot series yet. Mavado made his first appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and Khameleon made hers in the N64 game Mortal Kombat Trilogy.

While leaks should always be taken with a big pinch of salt, there are a few indicators that might suggest this Amazon leak isn't entirely false. On top of the Kombat Pack, the Amazon listing also stated that a Jean-Claude Van Damme Johnny Cage skin would be coming to Mortal Kombat 1's Premium edition, along with at least 72 hours of early access. The Premium and Kollector's editions of Mortal Kombat 1 have both been officially revealed now, and both do come with a Jean-Claude Van Damme Johhny Cage skin alongside early access to the game. And while it doesn't specify which characters are included, both editions of Mortal Kombat 1 come with a Kombat Pack, adding six playable characters and five Kameo fighters.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19, 2023, for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
