A new reality leaves endless potential, and with the Mortal Kombat reboot seeing the light of day, fans are already speculating on the potential for the best Mortal Kombat1 guest characters. It’s always a fun treat to play as an iconic character from another franchise, especially in a series as brutal and gory as Mortal Kombat.

There’s a blank canvas of ideas awaiting Mortal Kombat1, and players have already sent in their wishlists for Mortal Kombat1 DLC characters that could make an iconic roster of fighters from a multitude of different franchises, all promising one thing: Mortal Kombat.

10 Doom Slayer

Doom Slayer aka Doom Guy in Doom Eternal

Few games divulge into the sheer gore of demon killing quite like DOOM. This series has seen plenty of ripping and tearing, the two perfect words for a Mortal Kombat game. DOOM fans would love to see the iconic Doom Slayer do what he does best in a Mortal Kombat game, which is to kill all demons, and considering the NetherRealm is ever present, it’s safe to say that Mortal Kombat is filled with demons.

With Doom Slayer on the roster, fans can expect some brutal punches, kicks, and the iconic weaponry of the Doom Guy that have been seen in multiple games. There’s also great potential for his Fatalities, like the use of the BFG 9000.

9 Neo

Keanu Reeves is an icon, and what better person to feature in a Mortal Kombat game than what is essentially a video game character? Neo from The Matrix series has some incredible feats. After all, he is The One and knows that he exists within a simulation, which gives him some incredible abilities. To top it all off, he knows kung-fu.

Featuring Neo is a great way to feature an iconic Keanu Reeves character from The Matrix into a Mortal Kombat game, even if Keanu Reeves has gone on record saying that he doesn’t think Neo is a good fit, many fans might have to disagree here.

8 Shredder

The Injustice series has already seen the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fight against heroes like Batman and Superman. However, what the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles needs is their sworn nemesis in a Mortal Kombat game. Shredder is brutal and violent, and his expertise in martial arts and bladed armor makes him a perfectly violent choice for Mortal Kombat1, especially when fans don’t want to see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themselves turned into turtle soup.

Shredder is a great character from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and he would be a great representation of the franchise. The character is plenty menacing and has an iconic outfit that would look great against other combatants like Shao Khan.

7 Homelander

The Boys Antony Starr Homelander

It’s been long rumored of the appearance of Homelander in Mortal Kombat1 as a DLC character. This may only be a rumor, but it’s a great idea, as Homelander is both brutal and savage in The Boys comic and on Amazon Prime Video. Homelander is the perfect representation, a true villain that could get up to some heinous evils in the Mortal Kombat universe.

Although Homelander may be stronger than the other contestants due to his Superman-parody powers in The Boys, there can certainly be lore reasons as to why he’s been nerfed in the game. It would just be great to see Homelander pop someone’s skull with one fist.

6 Kratos

Kratos is no stranger to the Mortal Kombat franchise. This God of War icon is featured in Mortal Kombat (2011). Since it’s been well over 12 years since the last time audiences saw Kratos in Mortal Kombat, it’s about time he gets to guest star again. God of War has been through many changes, and what better way to bring in the now Norse-residing, axe-wielding Kratos than in Mortal Kombat1?

Kratos can have his iconic weapons, like the Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos, and truly let out all that anger that he’s been keeping inside by taking it out on combatants like Scorpion. Kratos can’t seem to stop killing gods, so what better god to kill than the new fire god Lui Kang?

5 Isaac Clarke

A ship system engineer that found himself fighting for his life against undead Necromorphs, Isaac Clarke is a great choice for Mortal Kombat. The protagonist of Dead Space has seen a great deal of gore and horror, so why not add to his trauma by letting him watch people rip hearts out of chests and eat brains? It’s nothing he hasn’t seen before.

Isaac Clarke could be a great fighter and a great collaboration from Dead Space. Paired with his brutal Plasma Cutter and his curb stomp, Isaac Clarke can continue to shout out profanity as he fights for his life against warriors and demons stronger than him.

4 Ash Williams

Ash Williams is a character that has been rumored to be involved in Mortal Kombat for quite some time. Unfortunately, the character from Evil Dead has never appeared, yet. Ash Williams is the perfect choice, especially considering his character is older than the Mortal Kombat games. It wouldn’t be the first time Ash Williams is covered in blood, whether it’s someone else’s or his own.

The only thing that could truly make this chainsaw-wielding, boomstick-blasting character an iconic piece of Mortal Kombat1 history is if Bruce Campbell returns as his Evil Dead character. Only Campbell could deliver the great lines and true groovy nature of his character.

3 Deadpool

Deadpool - Deadpool (2013)

Not to be confused with the Dead Pool Mortal Kombat arena, the iconic “Merc With a Mouth” from Marvel Comics would be a great choice for Mortal Kombat1. Deadpool is a fan favorite, and his appearance as a fourth-wall-breaking comic character would be great for the gore and terror awaiting him in Mortal Kombat1.

Deadpool has plenty of weapons that he could use, and perhaps his immortal healing factor could come into play for his fighting style. Alternatively, it would be great to see Deadpool never shut up after being killed in a Fatality, especially when he could easily annoy the annoying Kano. His violence is perfect for Mortal Kombat, since after all, Deadpool killed the Marvel Universe.

2 Judge Dredd

A feared and respected Judge, Judge Dredd can prove to the entirety of the Mortal Kombat1 roster that he is the law, and the judge, jury, and executioner. No justice escapes Judge Dredd, and he’s a true force to reckon with. It would be interesting to see Judge Dredd appear in Mortal Kombat1, especially if the game takes some comic influences for guest characters, much like Mortal Kombat11 did with the theme of 80s action heroes.

With an iconic uniform and a large gun at his side, Judge Dredd can and will bring justice to Mortal Kombat1. It’s always nice to see a representation of popular comic characters from franchises outside of DC and Marvel, especially when they get to flex their brutality in a fighting game.

1 Peacemaker

John Cena Peacemaker Make-A-Wish Record

There are countless DC characters that could represent DC in Mortal Kombat1. Yet, why not Peacemaker? The character may have been obscure for years, but he has thrust into popularity thanks to John Cena and the HBO Max Peacemaker show. Peacemaker is quickly becoming a DC fan favorite, and his violent ways are perfect for Mortal Kombat1.

Having Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat1 is a great way to cement the DCU and the power of John Cena. After all, Peacemaker wants peace no matter the cost, so what better way to get peace than killing every violent warrior in Mortal Kombat?

Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
