Respect Points excluded, Mortal Kombat 1 has four currency types: Koins, Krowns, Seasonal Kredits, and Dragon Krystals. Of these, the last one is mostly a microtransaction-exclusive coinage, while the rest can be earned through playing online and offline matches.

Respect Points cannot be used to buy gear or cosmetics, so they are usually not seen as an MK1 currency.

Koins

Koin refers to the main in-game currency in Mortal Kombat 1. It takes the form of dragon-stamped golden coins and is utilized by players to acquire gear, Kosmetics, and Konsumables within the game.

How to Get Koins

Players can earn Koin by playing matches, completing tutorials, and doing daily and weekly challenges. However, the ideal way to farm this currency is by getting flawless victories in the Invasion Mode. Each of these wins grants 400 Koins to players, enabling them to amass 1,000 Koins per 5-10 minutes.

Krowns

Krowns are the XP-equivalent currency in Mortal Kombat 1’s Invasion Mode. They are holed coins that can only be spent in Invasion Mode: Players can either spend Krowns at the Forge for armor improvements or at the Shop for leveling boosters.

How to Get Krowns

To earn Krowns, players will need to complete Invasion Mode missions. However, the most effective method to farm Krowns is by boosting a character's Attack Stat and achieving consecutive flawless victories. Each win can reward players with up to 100 Krowns, allowing them to accumulate 1,000 within less than 15 minutes.

Seasonal Kredits

Seasonal Kredits are tokens that unlock exclusive items available only during a specific season. These Kredits appear as dragon-stamped silver coins and can be used at the Seasonal Item Shop. (The shop offers time-limited items that refresh with each season.)

How to Get Seasonal Kredits

Players earn Seasonal Kredits by competing in online matches, doing daily and weekly challenges, and winning Invasion Mode fights. However, similar to Koins and Krowns, the best way to farm Seasonal Kredits is by getting flawless victories, which reward players with 300 of this specific coin.

Dragon Krystals

In Mortal Kombat 1, Dragon Krystals are microtransaction coins. Players can use this currency to unlock Kameos, Kosmetics, and Kombatants.

How to Get Dragon Krystals

The only way to earn free Dragon Krystal is by leveling up a character’s Mastery Rank. On Ranks 20 and 31, players get 100 Dragon Krystals (200 in total) per Kombatant. However, they can also get this currency through microtransactions or paying real-life money. See below for prices.

  • 5,900 Dragon Krystals: $39.99
  • 2,700 Dragon Krystals: $19.99
  • 1,250 Dragon Krystals: $9.99
  • 500 Dragon Krystals: $4.99

Respect Points

While not functioning as an actual currency, Respect Points in Mortal Kombat 1 are prestige tokens. In the King of the Hill mode, players can award these points to fellow Kombatants as a gesture of respect. However, Acquiring Respect Points relies solely on earning the respect of other players, with no specific farming method available.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
