The medieval hack-and-slash Mordhau has released an update that adds new perks, skins, cosmetics, maps, and a new weapon. The update also adds a 3 vs. 3 Ranked Teamfight mode to the ranked playlist, which previously only offered 1 vs. 1 Ranked Duels.

Mordhau added a rank system in a previous update which features six ranks from bronze to elite and has five tiers for each rank. While the Ranked Duels are far from Mordhau's usual 32-player battles, the 3 vs. 3 Ranked Teamfight mode will give players an opportunity to team up and strategize, much like the popular Gunfight playlist in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The addition of Ranked Teamfight will give the rank system more depth and players may see more ranked modes in future updates.

Mordhau developer Triternion has kept up with updates and support for the game by adding new maps, weapons and bug fixes frequently. Besides 3v3 Ranked, the new update also adds two small, circular maps, Arena and Truce. The maps feature a cheering crowd around the perimeter and can be used for Ranked Teamfight or the casual modes Duel, Deathmatch, and Skirmish.

The update also adds the new Falx weapon, a curved blade used by the ancient Thracians and Dacians and later used by the Romans. Mordhau features a massive array of weapons from battleaxes to the lute, and each weapon has realistic properties and can be used in more ways than one. For example, a sword will cut limbs, but can be also held from the blade so players can bash with the hilt to do blunt damage to armor.

Along with the addition of the Falx sword, many weapons are receiving new skins so players can show off their unique weapon in battle. 60 new cosmetics have also been added giving players more customization over accessories like helmets, shoulder plates, boots, and more. One of the six new perks is shown off in the update trailer. The Tank perk is shown being used by a massive armored soldier, who gets struck down, and immediately gets up like a horror movie character. Based on the name and trailer, the Tank perk will most likely allow players to take more damage or possibly recover from a potential killing blow.

Overall, the update to Mordhau expands gameplay drastically and gives players more reasons to compete in ranked matches. With new cosmetics and skins, players can customize their soldier to stand apart on the massive battlefields. Along with new maps, perks and cosmetics, the update also tweaks weapons and combat and addresses a few bugs.
