Oscar Isaac, probably most famous for his work on the Star Wars sequel trilogy, has recently been offered a part in Disney's Moon Knight TV show. Deadline has reported that the actor is currently in negotiations with Disney to take on the starring role. It's an interesting choice, especially for a show that hasn't had much information out there for fans to digest.

Moon Knight is one of Disney's big Marvel projects meant to go direct to streaming. It'll be part of a series of shows that are planned to have major connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jeremy Slater is on board to develop and lead the writing team for the project, and has previously worked on Netflix's adaptation of The Umbrella Academy. As of now, Disney will likely be hoping to secure/announce a director for the project, painting a more complete picture of who will be working the show and what direction they might take.

That's an important point, too, because Moon Knight has had quite a few different interpretations over the years. At the beginning, Moon Knight was basically the Marvel version of Batman, a mercenary with several alter egos who fights under the name of Moon Knight. As the series went on, however, the comic began to play with the question of how much control Moon Knight has over his different identities. As a result of his mental instability, Moon Knight has formed a reputation as one of the most unpredictable figures in the comics, developing behaviors and a fighting style that is supposedly so erratic and confusing that it is impossible to copy or predict.

This has given many comic authors a decent license to make Moon Knight a pretty crazy character, even by comic book standards. Among fans, Moon Knight is considered to be a character similar to Deadpool, willing to break the traditional rules of comic book characters and behave in ways that more serious figures aren't typically allowed to. Whether or not Disney plans to let go of the reins for the TV version is yet to be seen, and Oscar Isaac isn't really known for over the top acting. That said, he does have some comedic moments in the Star Wars sequels, which may indicate that the series is looking for someone who can bring a little levity to the series.

Moon Knight will hit Disney+ at some point in the future.
