Other than Oscar Isaac's mesmerizing performance the Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Moon Knight, another highlight from Marvel Studios' Moon Knight series is seeing the introduction of a new hero played by May Calamawy: Scarlet Scarab. Now, Calamawy has expressed her desire to team up with other MCU characters.

During the Moon Knight finale, which saw Spector and Grant finally coming to terms with each other's presence and battling it out against the villainous Arthur Harrow and his forces, the episode also saw Calamawy's Layla El-Faouly becoming the MCU's new hero, Scarlet Scarab. As the Avatar of Tawaret, the Egyptian goddess of women and children, Layla possesses heightened physical abilities that also grant her the power of flight when suited up.

While the series avoids many of the MCU connections in contrast to the previous Disney Plus series, Calamawy is already looking ahead. Speaking with Inverse, the actress shared that she would like to see her character team up with other MCU characters, a couple being Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange and Mahershala Ali's Blade. "There has been nothing yet that I know of what could happen with Scarlet Scarab. But I love Doctor Strange, that would be cool. Blade would be cool because I've worked with Mahershala Ali and I think he's so wonderful," she said. "And then, I love all the women. I love Agatha. I feel like in the beginning, I used to love anyone that was kind of a villain like Nebula. I found them so complex. But honestly, it really depends on the story. I kind of want to be with all of them,"

But even more important to Calamawy is having her character Layla El-Faouly represent Egyptian culture in a meaningful way and being a testament to being true to oneself. "Being a superhero feels like you're truly stepping into yourself and allowing yourself to shine as you are. As an actor, I've had to do a lot of work to allow myself to pursue this and not follow certain norms that maybe people from my society at my age would already be conforming to. I had to really evaluate a lot and recognize how I wanted to live my life as opposed to how anyone else would," Calamawy shared. "To really step into what's true for me has taken a lot of courage. And, I know not everyone is going to look at Layla and go, I relate to that woman, but what I hope is that she becomes a testament of being true to you. Because that's going to always be every single person’s superpower."

While it appears Marc, Steven, and Layla have become free from their Avatars (for now), the introduction of Jake Lockley, Marc's other alter-ego, in the finale's post-credits scene sets up a lot of possibilities as to where the story could head if Moon Knight season 2 were to happen. And with that second season being very likely, there is a good chance that Calamawy's character will get to team up with other fan-favorite characters. But until it is confirmed, fans will have to rewatch Moon Knight and continue following the MCU in its most expansive phase yet.

Moon Knight is now available to stream on Disney Plus.
