Marvel's first show of 2022, Moon Knight, is currently available to binge-watch on Disney+. The show stars Oscar Isaac as the titular hero, though Moon Knight's true identity is a mystery even to himself. While he was born as the American Marc Spector, childhood trauma forced him to develop dissociative identity disorder.

As a result of his disorder, Marc possesses two known alters in the MCU show: Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift shop employee whose perspective drives most of the show. However, the series' post-credits scene reveals the existence of a third, named Jake Lockley, though there's little known about the mysterious personality.

6 Jake Lockley Is A Cab Driver

Jake Lockley is not only one of Marc's alters in the show, but also the comics. However, the adaptation from panel to screen changed the interpretation of these alters quite a bit. For instance, comic book Steven Grant is a millionaire playboy whose role is to finance Marc Spector's escapades as Moon Knight.

Jake Lockley, on the other hand, has a more practical use. Often sporting a newsboy cap and a bandage on his nose, Jake is a cab driver in New York City. His role in Moon Knight's life is to gather information about criminals on the street level, from sources such as Crawley, who appears in the Disney+ show as a living statue.

5 Marc Also Used Jake's Name To Hide

As one of Marvel's edgier superheroes, Moon Knight often finds himself at odds with some pretty powerful comic characters. At one point in the source material, he manages to become the target of Norman Osborn's fury. As a result, Moon Knight was sought after by the Thunderbolts, a group of reformed super-criminals.

Despite Moon Knight's strength, fighting Thunderbolts like Bullseye and Venom is not a smart idea. Marc, therefore, flees to Mexico for a while, adopting the name of his alter ego to go incognito. Not only was Jake Lockley an entirely separate personality from Marc, but he was also sometimes used by Marc as a secretive alias.

4 Jake's Relationship To Khonshu

The finale of Moon Knight reveals very little about who Jake Lockley is. However, one thing is made clear: this alter of Marc has no qualms about being a servant of the Egyptian god Khonshu. This is shown when Lockley assists Khonshu in killing Arthur Harrow after the former cult leader is admitted to a psychiatric ward.

Lockley's connection with Khonshu will obviously come at odds with the deal Marc and Steven made with the god at the end of Moon Knight's first season. Hopefully, the show will be renewed for a second season to dive into this potential conflict. This will prove exciting to fans who enjoyed the conflict between alters in Moon Knight.

3 Jake Is A More Rageful Alter

While Jake Lockley doesn't show up officially until the post-credits scene of Moon Knight, he influences the story in previous episodes. Particularly, some key moments find Marc and Steven losing consciousness and awakening in violent circumstances. Neither of them is actually sure who was in control at this time.

It's very clear by the end of Moon Knight that these moments were when Jake Lockley was in control. In the finale, Marc and Steven's final battle with Arthur Harrow is even interrupted by Jake almost taking an axe to the cult leader's forehead. Suffice it to say, it's easy to see why Khonshu prefers working with this specific alter.

2 The Origin Of Jake Lockley

The fifth episode of Moon Knight finds Marc and Steven navigating the memories that the others weren't aware of. Some of these memories explain some important aspects of Marc's character, such as his first encounter with Khonshu. Others explain the origin of Steven as a result of the abuse Marc suffered from his mother as a kid.

What's not explained in the fifth episode is what event led to the creation of Jake Lockley. However, a clue may occur in one of Marc's other memories. Marc mentions that he was dishonorably discharged from the military for going berserk in a violent fugue statue. Jake Lockley's violent nature may be a result of Marc's time in war.

1 Why Jake Lockley Speaks Spanish

It may come as a shock to comic book readers to see Jake Lockley, whose origins are usually Brooklyn-based, speaking Spanish during the finale of Moon Knight. That's because this key character detail doesn't have any origins in the comics. In fact, it wasn't even originally included in the script for Moon Knight's finale.

According to one of Moon Knight's producers, Jake's Spanish-speaking was an improvised invention by Oscar Isaac. Obviously, this was probably a tribute to Isaac's Guatemalan heritage. However, it will be an exciting part of Jake's characterization in future appearances as a way to differentiate him from Marc and Steven.
