Capcom has revealed that its 2018 hit Monster Hunter World has recently passed a huge sales milestone, confirming that the game has sold over 25 million copies. Monster Hunter World is now over six years old at this point, but that hasn't stopped gamers from continuing to pick up one of Capcom's best-ever titles.

Upon its release, Monster Hunter World was critically acclaimed, holding the series' highest-ever score on Metacritic with 90. In the years since, Capcom has continued to capitalize on its success through frequent updates, which have continued even after the release of Monster Hunter Rise in 2021. On top of this, unique Monster Hunter World crossovers have helped to keep the game fresh with characters and items from other franchises, with the likes of Assassin's Creed, The Witcher, and Resident Evil all coming to the game in various ways. With this in mind, it's no surprise that the game has managed to hit such an impressive sales milestone.

The Best Monster Hunter World Builds Ahead of MH Wilds

With Monster Hunter Wilds still at least a year away, Monster Hunter World players should prioritize these builds to get the upper hand in battle.

Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter World had recently passed the 25 million copies sold mark when including the Iceborne Master Edition version. This makes it the best-selling Capcom game of all time, which is an incredible achievement given some of the properties the company has under its banner. The game stands comfortably as one of the best RPGs by Capcom, and even with the 2021 release of Monster Hunter Rise, it's likely it will continue to sell well into the future.

Monster Hunter World Hits 25 Million Sales

Capcom's statement put into perspective just how successful the Monster Hunter series has been over its two decades of existence. As well as confirming the individual sales figures for Monster Hunter World, it also confirmed that as of December 2023, the sales of the series as a whole have surpassed 97 million units, meaning that 2024 should prove to be a landmark year if it can pass that 100 million mark. The resurgence of Monster Hunter World will prove essential to ensuring these sales continue to grow throughout this year.

Clearly, the audience appetite for more Monster Hunter is extremely strong at the moment, and the series isn't going anywhere. Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Wilds at The Game Awards last year, as the new mainline entry into the series currently planned for a 2025 release. The initial reveal trailer for the sequel didn't exactly give too much away about what players can expect from the game, and hopefully, 2024 offers up more answers later in the year.
