In addition to the new quests and monsters, the game also added a ton of new features into the game and updated some old ones. Some of these aren't telegraphed to the player very well, so here are 10 things you didn't know you could do in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

10 Raider Ride

Getting around areas has never been faster than in Iceborne. This new feature allows players to sneak up on some of the smaller monsters and hop on them with a button press. This is a fantastic tool for following monsters that love to move around frequently and go long distances.

Not every small monster can be ridden and some of the ones that can be don't move very fast; however, the instances where everything comes together are fantastic and riding around on a small monster is super fun.

9 Hot Springs

Hunting monsters is a hard business and every hunter needs to be able to kick their feet up on occasion. The new hub area, Seliana, is home to all the necessities that Astera provides, plus a few new ones. One of these is the hot springs, located in the gathering hub of Seliana.

The hot springs allow hunters to relax and splash around with their Palico in a relaxing area. The hot springs don't do anything from a gameplay perspective but it does give a nice color to the world and shows that even the best of hunters need a break sometimes.

8 Auto Reply Guild & Squad Cards

Monster Hunter World Iceborne Guild Card

In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne guild cards and squad cards allow for players to keep a running list of people they have played with or could play with in the future, without the hassle of adding them through Xbox Live or the Playstation Network.

Introduced in Icebornethe option to turn on automatic replies and automatic acceptance of these cards has been added. This allows for the more social hunters to not have to take time out of their hunt to accept and reply to guild cards sent by other people.

7 Steamworks

Located in the hub of Seliana, Steamworks is a minigame system that helps fuel the hub area. For hunters, this means fuel, as well as resources that can be converted into fuel gathered on missions, can be used to run the Steamworks, rewarding players with items in the process.

The game is based around guessing the order of three buttons that need to be pressed to gain better items. The items awarded range from health potions to armor spheres. Utilizing the Steamworks means never being short on items for big monster hunts.

6 Craft Layered Armor

While only available through limited-time events previously, layered armor sets and pieces can be crafted in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. To craft the layered armor, players only need to acquire materials and research points, most of which can be obtained through doing optional delivery quests.

Having layered armor allows hunters to look and stylish as they want, even if the armor set they need to have equipped at the time isn't as cool-looking as they want it to be. Layered armor can be crafted at the smithy just like regular armor sets.

5 Find Hidden Treasure

Hidden treasures await those who dare seek it out. As long as they have achieved level 6 unity with an area's local Felyne tribe, which can be achieved by doing tasks for them and having them join in on hunts or expeditions if they are spotted nearby during a mission.

At level 6 unity the option to 'pawswap' becomes available allowing for trade between the two parties. While the Felyne react differently depending on an item, items that cause them to jump up and down and beg with their paws out can lead to a tip about the location of some treasure. After that players will have to track it down in the same area.

4 Obtain Crowns For Endemic Life

For the hunters that like to tick every box and fill out the records book endemic life, the very small creatures that can be captured with the capture net, now have their sizes recorded and have their own sets of miniature and gold crowns. Crowns are awarded for capturing the smallest and biggest possible sizes of creatures.

While capturing still only awards research points, the crowns are tied to achievements for the expansion as well. If getting all the records for the big monsters just wasn't enough, obtaining these crowns should fill up some more time.

3 Natural Hot Springs

The icy colds of Hoarfrost Reach, the new map in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, will drain a player's stamina bar unless they find a way to warm up. While the main solution to this is to drink hot drinks, made from hot peppers, natural hot springs around the map have the same effect if a player takes s short dip in them.

These hot springs are super convenient because the long monster hunts in Iceborne typically outlast the duration of the hot drink and any player caught without another one isn't going to last long in the cold.

2 Hunter Helper Rewards

With all-new high rarity materials to gather as resources to craft high-rarity weapons and armors, it is hard to imagine a reason for master-rank hunters to help out the low and high-rank hunters. The new hunter helper rewards system is that reason.

Master-rank hunters are awarded special materials and awards for helping those who haven't made it to master rank yet. This system also helps those new players attempting to make their way through the main game to get to the expansion.

1 Room Decorations

While hunters have always had access to their own rooms, the room at Seliana can feel much more personal. Iceborne introduces room decorations, allowing for a fairly customizable room for players to enjoy.

The decorations range from curtains to walls to shelves that can have different items placed on it. Decorations are awarded for delivery requests and certain missions, so hunters should keep an eye out for that next piece of sweet, sweet furniture.
