Monster Hunter World boasts a detailed character creation system that lets you tailor both your player character and their Palico sidekick. It can be a bit of a letdown when the initial armor sets you acquire aren't as visually appealing as you'd like. Additionally, many players would much rather enjoy seeing the outcome of their hard work with the character creator, especially after spending time perfecting their character's appearance. Fortunately, the game offers a solution.

In Monster Hunter World, players have the option to toggle the visibility of armor on the head slot. This means you can keep the benefits of the equipped gear without it obscuring your character's face. You can freely toggle the visibility of your helmet at any time, in case you become overwhelmed with the desire to sport the stylish and unique Wiggler Helm. Changing the display settings for your helmet is a straightforward process.

How to Hide or Show Your Helmet in Monster Hunter World

Toggle showing and hiding of headgear in Monster Hunter World

You can adjust the visibility of your helmet at any point during Monster Hunter World. It's important to note that interacting with the menu will not pause the game, so you'll want to head somewhere safe before making any changes. To hide or show your character's helmet in Monster Hunter World, just follow these steps:

  1. Open the Game Menu and go to the “Systems” category, indicated by the icon with two cogwheels.
  2. In the Systems Menu, choose “Options.” This will take you to the Game Settings tab.
  3. Within Game Settings, find the "Head Armor" option. Here, you can select from three settings:
    • Show: This will always display your head armor.
    • Hide: This option keeps your head armor hidden.
    • Hide in Cutscenes Only: Your head armor is visible during gameplay but hidden in cutscenes.

With your helmet hidden, you will, of course, be able to see more of your character's customized appearance. If you ever want a fresh new look, you can change your character's hair and makeup by visiting your room.

However, if you wish to overhaul your character's appearance entirely, you must use a Character Edit Voucher. Players can receive a single voucher for free by visiting their respective platform's store, but any further vouchers must be purchased with real money.

It's worth noting that hiding the headgear of your Palico companion is not an option in Monster Hunter World; this feature was not added until the release of Monster Hunter Rise. You can, however, edit your Palico's appearance using the aforementioned voucher system, with Palicos having their own separate, purchasable voucher allowing this customization.
