Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a role-playing game with an emphasis on exploration. Expanding the roster of Monsties in their care will allow players to overcome greater threats and access more remote areas. From the get-go in Monster Hunter Stories 2, gamers will encounter walls of ivy that are seemingly unclimbable. Not long after viewing the opening cutscene of Monster Hunter Stories 2, players will quickly be introduced to some helpful Monsties. How to Climb Vines in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
Players will get their first chance to climb vines once they've recruited a Kecha Wacha as a Monstie companion. Kecha Wacha are found in the third region that riders will visit. This means that players will have to make it several hours into the overall story of Monster Hunter Stories 2 before they can traverse any ivy. Until then, it could be prudent to make note of any ivy locations so that those areas can be revisited once a Kecha Wacha or other climbing Monstie has been added to the party. Since some treasure chests contain weapons or other highly useful items, it's well worth the effort.
Some other monsters that can climb vines include Congalala and Tigrex. No matter which ivy-climbing monster players choose to go for, they'll first have to find and hatch an egg of that species. The egg system in Monster Hunter Stories 2 can be confusing, with many different stats and other attributes to consider. Luckily, Riding Actions such as Ivy Climb are not one of the randomized factors when hatching Monsties. This means that getting a companion that can climb vines is relatively simple and straightforward.
Once the player is riding a monster with Ivy Climb as their lead Monstie, ascending climbable vines is as easy as approaching the ivy and pressing the prompted button (B on the Nintendo Switch version). Reaching the point in the game where a monster with Ivy Climb is obtainable can certainly seem like a chore. That being said, players who transfer Monster Hunter Stories 2 demo data will have a head start when they begin playing the full game.
