One of the primary focuses of the new Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is taming Monsties. With these powerful beasts at the player's side, they will be able to reach new areas during exploration and tackle even greater threats in combat. At the start of the game, the number of different Monsties players can tame will be somewhat limited, but this will change as players progress through the story and unlock new regions. Early on, players will have an encounter with an Anjanath, a fierce brute wyvern that proves to be too much for the player to handle at the moment. This sets off the game's story and likely will make players want an Anjanath of their own.

For those that aren't fully familiar with the terminology of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, a Monster is a wild beast that is usually hostile towards the player. They can be battled and provide rewards when defeated. By contrast, a Monstie is a monster raised from the day it hatched by the player. These beasts form a special bond with their rider and can be used in exploration and combat.

In order to get an Anjanath on the player's team, they will first need to progress through the story. The first encounter with a wild Anjanath is meant to be an unwinnable battle, and players won't encounter it again until the end of the second chapter. Here the beast serves as the final boss of that chapter, and players must defeat it in order to move on to chapter three and unlock the new region, Loloska.

How to get Anajanath in MHS 2: Wings of Ruin

After unlocking Loloska, players will finally be able to find Anjanath in the wild. At this point, it's just a matter of taming the beast just like any other monster. The best way to go about doing this outside of searching random monster dens for eggs is to find an Anjanath in the wild and battle it. Once it gets low on health, throw a paintball to increase its chance of retreating and finish it off in the next three turns. If the Anjanath flees, players will be able to follow its tracks straight back to a guaranteed Anjanath den.

Head inside, find where the Anjanath is sleeping, and pick an egg to head out with. Remember that heavier eggs, eggs that smell nicer, and sparkling eggs have the best chance of hatching powerful Monsties. This is a surefire way to get an Anjanath Monstie, and since this is a very powerful Monstie to have at one's side, it may be worth trying to do this quickly.
