With Monster Hunter Rise's release on PC, veteran fans of the beloved franchise will have new opportunities to battle their favorite monsters. For all these different types of players, some tips and tricks would come in handy as they gear up for their next hunts. However, certain aspects of Monster Hunter Rise might not be obvious to the casual fan. These are a few features of the game all prospective Hunters should be investigating as they advance.

10 Cook Raw Meat To Perfection

Slaying smaller, herbivore Monsters will allow Hunters to carve Raw Meat. Having Raw Meat in a player's inventory will allow them to access the BBQ Spit, which can be used to turn Raw Meat into Well-Done Steak, fully restoring the stamina bar. However, cooking Raw Meat is not as easy as it looks.

Using the BBQ Spit will activate a mini-game, complete with a catchy jingle. Once the jingle ends, players will notice the meat darken in color. Be sure to take the Raw Meat off the spit when this happens, because if left cooking, the Raw Meat can turn into Burnt Meat, which may lower the stamina when eaten. Players can also use the Motley Mix in the Village Canteen to cook multiple Raw Meats at once.

9 Find All The Hidden Sub-Camps

Most maps in Monster Hunter Rise have one or two hidden Sub-Camps that Hunters can discover during their exploration. When a Sub-Camp has been discovered, players will be able to fast-travel between them in the middle of a hunt. Later in the game, this can help speed up the hunting process by fast-traveling closer to where the target monster appears.

Fast-travel isn't the only benefit of unlocking Sub-Camps. They also function the same way the Base Camp does, allowing players to change their equipment, sleep, and access the Buddy Board. They make for great spots to recharge during a long hunt, or to gear up if a certain weapon isn't working against a specific monster.

8 Carry Demondrugs & Armorskins Everywhere

These are items that increase a Hunter's attack power and armor defense. Especially for lower-rank Hunters who find themselves struggling against Large Monsters, these items are very valuable to have in the inventory. They can even be upgraded to Mega Demondrugs and Mega Armorskins, for extra boosts.

Players can only keep 5 of each in their inventory at a time, though it's unlikely they'll need more than that for any one hunt. For more permanence, players should look to Powercharms and Armorcharms that unlock when they reach HR6. These items only need to be kept in the player's item bag to grant attack and defense boosts.

7 Add Some Variety To Combos With Switch Skills

As Hunters progress in HR Rank, they'll unlock "Switch Skills" that vary from weapon to weapon. Essentially, players can customize their weapon's attacks by swapping various moves in and out. For example, Sword & Shield users can replace their Advancing Slash (X + A) with a Sliding Slash that offers increased mobility.

Thankfully, players don't have to unlock each weapon's Switch Skill individually. Switch Skills are unlocked in three sets: the first after reaching 3-star Village Quests, the second after crafting or upgrading 8 weapons of the same type, and the third by reaching 4-star Hub Quests.

6 Utilize Endemic Life

While navigating maps during a hunt, players may run into various creatures that are vastly different from targeted Monsters. These are called Endemic Life forms, which could be familiar to Monster Hunter World players. In that game, Endemic Life were collectibles Hunters could use to decorate their room, but they serve a much more useful purpose in Monster Hunter Rise.

Some Endemic Life offers instant boosts to Hunters. Others work like traps or weapons that can target or stun monsters when activated. It's a good idea to look into what each Endemic Life does and how they can be utilized.

5 Cohoots Are Helpful Allies

Most Monster Hunter Rise players are informed on the uses of Palamutes and Palicos, who help attack monsters, heal party members, and grant skill boosts. Don't forget about Cohoots, though! These cute owls are useful pets for Hunters, and it's good to know what they contribute to the hunt.

At the start of every quest, Hunters unleash their Cohoots into the wild. After this, players can track the location of Large Monsters on the map. Additionally, their nest can be found in the Buddy Plaza, which contains items that the Cohoot has picked up during hunts.

4 Melding Talismans Offers Big Rewards

After unlocking 5-star Village Quests, players can access the Melting Pot, which lets them create Talismans that enhance skills. Just speak with the merchant in the Village or Gathering Hub. Players can even choose which skills they want to enhance, though it costs Monster parts to place the order.

The flip side to this feature is that it takes time to churn out a single Talisman order. Specifically, players must complete one quest to refresh it. An easy way to farm Talismans would be to place the order, embark on an Expedition quest, and then complete it right away and return to the Village.

3 Layered Armor Lets Hunters Play With Fashion

Armor is not just about the skills it grants a Hunter; it's also about hunting with style. All too often, the specific armor look a player wants might not match up with skills that would make it useful. Thankfully, players don't have to worry about this by taking advantage of Layered Armor.

By reaching HR 8, players can purchase Outfit Vouchers that allow them to craft Layered Armor. This special type of Armor offers no skill bonuses, instead only affecting the aesthetics of a Hunter. It's worn additionally to regular armor, so don't worry about going on a Quest with no skills.

2 Meowcenaries Hunt All On Their Own

Some players may feel a little guilty about having favorites among their collected Palamutes and Palicoes. Luckily, Buddies that aren't seeing action can be put to good use by becoming Meowcenaries. With this feature, Buddies are sent out on quests to gather materials all on their own, returning with a collection of Rewards based on whatever monster they took on.

Additionally, there are certain special items that can only be obtained by Meowcenaries. If a player is lucky enough to receive one of these items, they can be used to craft unique Armor sets. Much like the Melting Pot, it takes a completed (or failed) quest to refresh the Meowcenaries, so make sure to check back in.

1 Event Quests Aren't Just For Fun

For frequent Monster Hunter Rise players, it might be worthwhile to keep tabs on current and upcoming Event Quests. Event Quests are special DLC hunts that sometimes reward special, unique rewards. These rewards sometimes include new Gestures, Armor sets, and special items.

While the benefits of completing Event Quests are plentiful, they can also often be of extreme difficulty. However, they make for good extra content after players have completed all the Village and Gathering Hub Quests. For those who see themselves playing Monster Hunter Rise for the inevitable future, Event Quests provide an endless amount of hunts to partake in.
