Rumors have been swirling for some time that Capcom was preparing to release a new Monster Hunter game for the Nintendo Switch. And during the latest Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase presentation, it turned out those rumors were true. Capcom has officially announced Monster Hunter Rise as a Nintendo Switch exclusive game.

The Monster Hunter Rise trailer showcased advanced movement techniques for the Monster Hunter franchise, with players able to speed across the world on the back of a dog, which was also able to climb up walls. A grappling hook was also seen, giving Monster Hunter players unprecedented exploration capabilities.

Besides showing off advanced exploration and movement techniques, the Monster Hunter Rise trailer also gave fans a look at some of the monsters they will be hunting in the game. This includes the bird-like Aknosom, Tetranadon, Great Izuchi, and the terrifying Magnamalo. Needless to say, those that enjoyed Monster Hunter World or any of the other games in the series should be right at home here, as it looks like Monster Hunter Rise will have no shortage of over-the-top battles against intimidating monsters.

Besides showing off the different kinds of monsters players will encounter in the game, the Monster Hunter Rise trailer also hinted at some other features. Players are given a glimpse at the various Monster Hunter weapons that they will have access to in the game, which should support a variety of different playstyles.

It also looks as though Monster Hunter Rise will retain the co-op gameplay that the franchise is known for. At various points in the Monster Hunter Rise trailer, it shows players teaming with others to complete hunts and take down monsters, so it seems as though that important aspect of the long-running franchise will indeed remain intact.

As it turns out, the Monster Hunter Rise leak from earlier has turned out to be mostly true. Pretty much everything claimed in the leak, from the game's new traversal mechanics to the different monsters players will face, were verified by the Monster Hunter Rise announcement trailer. However, there's still more that has yet to be revealed.

Nintendo confirmed during its Nintendo Direct Mini that a Monster Hunter Direct presentation will take place immediately afterwards. Lasting about 10 minutes long, fans can expect even more specific details about what they can expect from Monster Hunter Rise during its specific Direct. It's possible more information on the Monster Hunter series in general will also be made available, so fans should stay tuned.

Monster Hunter Rise will launch March 26, 2021, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
