The release of the highly anticipated Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise is only a few months away and Capcom has already shared plenty of details relating to the first paid DLC for the newest entry of the long-running franchise. From teasing new monsters to showing off new Silkbind attacks players can use to subdue monsters, the expansion is looking to add plenty of content to a game that already saw massive success following its release in March of last year.

Previous reveals from Capcom have already teased fans with plenty of new content coming in Monster Hunter Rise's first major expansion. Alongside a new hub area in the port town of Elgado and the swarms of new monsters for players to challenge, Sunbreak is also set to introduce "Master Rank" quests into the game as well as featuring a brand-new story connected to both the new village and the monsters players will battle there. Now, during Tuesday's digital event, Capcom gave fans a deep dive into what to expect out of Sunbreak, showing off new monsters, new characters, and more.

The March 2022 Sunbreak digital event re-introduces players to the port village of Elgado, introducing the hunter to the new locale through the surprise appearance of the Lunagaron in the base game's Shrine Ruins. The trailer shows off the three monsters referred to as "The Three Lords," giving players a closer look at the previously revealed Malzeno and Lunagaron while also introducing a new monster in the hulking behemoth called the Garangolm. The trailer also revealed a new form for the Bishaten, hurling exploding pinecones instead of the original's persimmons, and the return of the Astalos previously introduced in Monster Hunter Generations.

The trailer also featured several related products and pre-order bonuses coinciding with Sunbreak's release. Pre-ordering the expansion will net players new layered armor for their Palicos and Palamutes in the "Striped Cat" and "Loyal Dog" costumes. Capcom also revealed three new Amiibo for Sunbreak featuring both Palicos and Palamutes in armor based on the Malzeno as well as a figure for the imposing dragon itself. Using the Amiibos in-game will unlock special layered armor for both the hunter and their feline and canine companions.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will look to build on the already massive success Rise has experienced since the game's launch nearly a year ago. The release of the PC version saw Rise once again topping sales charts in January with Capcom also announcing that the game had passed 8 million units sold that same month. The addition of a new hub area, new regions for players to explore, and new monsters to slay in Sunbreak will look to bolster Rise's success well into the future.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now for PC and Switch. The Sunbreak expansion will release on June 30.
