Title Update 3 has finally arrived in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, and with it came a new variant and two new Risen Elder Dragons, one being Risen Kushala Daora. Kushala Daora has been looked down upon in the Monster Hunter community for quite some time now, as it has never received a new form before, and the fight against it can be pretty annoying.

However, things take a rather dramatic turn with a new Risen form for the beast. This guide will help Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak players find and defeat Risen Kushala Daora.

How To Unlock Risen Kushala Daora

To be allowed to fight a Risen Kushala Daora, players first need to reach Master Rank 120 and then speak with the quest princess at the Elgado Outpost. The same applies to Risen Teostra. However, players will need to reach Master Rank 140 to unlock it. After reaching Master Rank 120, players will then be tasked with tracking down and slaying a Risen Kushala Daora.

For most hunters, fighting a Kushala Daora is relatively easy compared to fighting other Elder Dragons. However, Risen Kushala Daora has arrived to put those hunters to shame, so before hopping into this fight, players should first understand how to fight the King of Tempests.

How To Defeat Risen Kushala Daora

When starting the fight, Risen Kushala Daora acts more or less the same as a normal one, even possessing the same weakness to the Thunder element. Thus, Thunder-based weapons will be the best to use against the beast, specifically on its legs, as they are the weakest part of the body. However, after enough damage is dealt, it will then enter the "Risen" state, where it gains access to a slew of new moves to devastate hunters with.

For starters, while in the Risen state, all of Kushala Daora's Wind-based attacks now have a golden glow around them, indicating that players should dodge these attacks with utmost priority. As one would expect, but all attacks launched by Kushala Daora while Risen deal double the damage as before. On top of that, Kushala now has its own ultimate attack, known as Eye of the Storm.

During this attack, Kushala will start to pull players towards itself, then fly into the sky to create a massive tornado. Players caught in the tornado will be one-shot more likely than not. Players can safely dodge this attack, however, with a wirebug, allowing them to catch their breath for a moment. Knock Kushala out of its Risen state, deal enough damage, and eventually, the mighty Elder Dragon will be slayed.
