Monster Hunter Rise's massive Sunbreak expansion adds a lot for players to do. Not only are there new quests, new monsters, and new maps to explore, but there are also lots of weapons and armor sets to craft too. However, getting some of the strongest pieces of gear will require rare materials.

One of the materials that hunters will probably need to get their hands on at some point is the Large Wyvern Gem. This guide will go over how to get the Large Wyvern Gem in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, and what can be crafted with it.

How to Get Large Wyvern Gem

While it may seem like a rare material, Large Wyvern Gems can be acquired by fighting many different monsters in Sunbreak. Players can get the gems in different ways, either through carving, capturing, target, or broken part rewards.

Here's a list of each monster in Sunbreak that has the potential to give players a Large Wyvern Gem or two:

  • Tigrex
  • Aurora Somnacanth
  • Diablos
  • Barioth
  • Somnacanth
  • Tobi-Kadachi
  • Royal Ludroth
  • Jyuratodus
  • Khezu
  • Tobi-Kadachi
  • Barroth

While there are many monsters that can drop Large Wyvern Gems, the overall percentage is fairly low, but some monsters have a bit of a higher chance of having the item.

  • There's a 5% chance of getting a Large Wyvern Gem as a Target Reward for hunting Tigrex, which is the highest for the listed monsters' Target Rewards.
  • As for Capture Rewards, there's a 5% chance of getting the Gem from Barroth and Diablos.
  • For Broken Part Rewards, there's a 5% chance from Barioth.
  • And there's also a 5% chance of getting the Large Wyvern Gem by carving Nargacuga's body or Diablos' tail.
  • All other monsters have less than a 5% chance of dropping Large Wyvern Gems, so try to stick to hunting the ones mentioned in these bullet points.

What Can be Crafted with Large Wyvern Gems

There are a couple of weapons and armor that can be made using Large Wyvern Gems, such as the Kamura Warrior line, the Diablos Smasher, Nightmare Frilled Claws, and a couple of others.

As for Armor, hunters can use the gems to make things like the Diablos Helm, Barioth Mail, Tigrex Coil, and Nargacuga Helm.
