Monster Hunter Rise, like previous entries in the series, tasks players with taking down huge, ferocious monsters and dragons that can tear hunters apart if they're not equipped with strong weapons and armor sets. In order to upgrade weapons and armor in Monster Hunter Rise requires players to carve and/or capture monsters to get rare materials and monster parts. For players looking for an item called a Paralysis Sac, this guide will go into detail on where it can be found.
Paralysis Sac is a material used to forge certain equipment, but players should not have too many issues finding it, as it can be obtained by going out and fighting against a monster called Volvidon.
Volvidon is one of the large monsters in Monster Hunter Rise that inhabit the Sandy Plains and Lava Caverns locale and their hunting quest can be unlocked once players reach the 4-star Village Quests in Kamura Village, given to players by Hinoa, the Quest Maiden. The quest is titled "A Song of Red and Fire" and tasks players with hunting the fierce beast. Alternatively, players can visit the gathering hub and accept a Volvidon quest from Minoto, the Hub Maiden, once they reach the 2-star quests. This Volvidon quest is titled "Reinventing the Wheel."
Now, to actually get the Paralysis Sac from Volvidon, there are several ways to do so. Players have a 16% chance of obtaining the item from Target Rewards for finishing the Volvidon quest, which isn't too bad. However, players can also use traps to capture the monster to get a 22% chance of obtaining the Paralysis Sac. There's also a 17% chance of getting it through carving the monster once it's been slain. Players can use the chart below to see all of the different Low-Rank materials that can come from a Volvidon hunt.
If players need a Paralysis Sac fast and east, the best way, in this case, is to attempt to capture the monster. To do so, players will need to bring a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap with them on a hunt, and they will also need to make sure that they have at least 2 Tranq Bombs or another item that can tranquilize beasts.
By looking at the monster's icon in the top-right corner of the screen during a hunt, a blue icon will appear once the monster is ready to be captured. Once that icon is visible, players need to simply get the monster in the trap and then hit it with some tranq bombs until the process is complete.
Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC port is expected to launch in early 2022.
