Anyone familiar with Monster Hunter Rise is well-acquainted with the core gameplay loop of hunting monsters, harvesting their parts, and then crafting new gear with it. It's a formula that has worked since Monster Hunter first came out and Monster Hunter Rise keeps that train rolling.

The Izuchi is one of many smaller monsters that players will encounter in their travels throughout Monster Hunter Rise. It is found in the Shrine Ruins and Frost Islands and will typically accompany the Great Izuchi. The Izuchi Tail is one of the more common parts that will drop from the creature and is used in a number of starting items. Being a small monster, it doesn't have any natural elemental weaknesses or ailments. From a lore perspective, the Izuchi that utilize their tail effectively in battle will naturally become the leaders of their packs.

Over the course of their hunts, players will naturally run into the Izuchi and should be able to passively gather enough of the component to craft whatever Izuchi-inspired gear they might need or want. They make for a decent starter set at both the Low and High Ranks.

Unlike most encounters in the Monster Hunter series, small monsters like the Izuchi don't require too much strategy and are great for players to learn how to utilize new weapons and controls in general. While the fights might not be as epic as Valstrax, everyone needs to start somewhere. The Izuchi is one of several starter monsters that players will encounter and cut their teeth on. Unlikely to be anyone's favorite, but a necessary evil all the same, the Izuchi and other small monsters are the training wheels of Monster Hunter Rise.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch.
