Hammers in Monster Hunter represent the absolute best in the franchise when it comes to wrecking opponents, especially in Monster Hunter Rise. Despite their slow movement, Hammers in any Monster Hunter game have deliberately slow-moving combos that guarantee devastating damage to enemies they hit. Against some of the toughest enemies in Monster Hunter Rise, Hammers are a cut above the rest of weapon classes.
However, with the many Hammer options available in Rise, it can become quite challenging choosing a Hammer that works for the player’s needs. Which Hammers are go-to options for players who want to give monsters a much-needed beating?

Looking more like a hulking mace than a simple hammer, the Rampage Hammer S definitely deserves the S-Ranking if only for its sheer scope. Its attack power of 210 might seem a bit smaller compared to other Hammers in the endgame, but it compensates well for its neutral build, making it great for trapping monsters. It doesn’t have any slots, but its lack of elements and affinities make it perfect for most encounters. Moreover, having multiple options for its Rampage Skills allows players to tailor-fit the weapon to their needs.
This weapon follows the upgrade path of the Rampage Hammer I, being the sixth and final iteration. To craft the Rampage Hammer S, players need the following:
- 50,000 Zenny

Its available Rampage Skills involve a +8 Attack boost, a +4 boost to Fire, or boosted damage against monsters weak against Fire with the final skill, Element Exploit. This makes the weapon a great tool for newcomers to pick up.

A fitting weapon for the Abominable Snowman, the Abominable Hammer is a vicious-looking ice hammer originating from the Yeti-like Goss Harag, explaining its Ice Element and its affinity. However, it makes up for this affinity with its slotting, as well as Rampage Skills that boosts its weak affinity strikes or boost affinity damage overall, or with Ice Boost III, offer enhanced ice damage. This makes it a good heavy-hitting weapon for most players, who will want to eliminate monsters quickly and efficiently.

Although lacking in slots, it does have Rampage Skills that can strengthen weaker strikes, boost overall defense, and offer a huge boost when attacking based on affinities.
