The Game Awards is a show known for its reveals as well as the rewards it gives out to the achieving games of a given year. 2021's Game Awards was no different, and gave gaming fans some interesting reveals for upcoming titles, with one of those games being Monolith's Wonder Woman. Previously known for the Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games, Monolith Productions has a proven track record for creating engaging open-world titles with an emphasis on combat.

Considering both The Lord of the Rings and Wonder Woman franchises are owned by Warner Bros, it didn't seem too far a jump for WB Games and Monolith to work on a Wonder Woman title next. According to previous news and leaks on the upcoming Wonder Woman game, it will follow a similar style to the Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games, featuring an open-world, with action oriented gameplay. Many likened Shadow of Mordor with the Batman: Arkham franchise upon the former's release, which means that the same formula of gameplay could also easily fit a Wonder Woman game.

There's also the famous "Nemesis System," which randomly generated enemies that a player would face in Shadow of Mordor. This meant that no two playthroughs of the game would be the same, with different players encountering different rosters of orcs. In Wonder Woman, the "Nemesis System" is reportedly returning, though to see these returning gameplay elements, fans may be waiting longer than they had first thought.

Wonder-Woman-Game

A recent job posting by Monolith for a Senior World Designer has some fans worried that they may not see the Wonder Woman game in 2022. The position is a 2-Year Temporary contract and though it does not state Wonder Woman is the primary focus of the role, there doesn't seem to be any other projects that Monolith is working on. It's possible that this role will include both the lead up to Wonder Woman's release and beyond, yet it seems unlikely a World Designer will be needed much beyond the launch of the game.

While fans may soon be disappointed to find out the release of Wonder Woman could be delayed, there are plenty of other DC games to be excited about in 2022, such as the open-world action game Gotham Knights and the highly anticipated Suicide Squad game developed by Batman Arkham developer Rocksteady.

Wonder Woman is currently in development.
