Many players of The Sims 4 have anticipated the release of the previously announced infants life stage. The update that was released on January 17th 2023 with the two new kits - The Sims 4 Bathroom Clutter Kit and The Sims 4 Simtimates Collection - did not include the new life stage.
Some players can be disappointed by the baby life stage, and the toddler life stage has had its own DLC additions, such as the Little Campers Kit and the Toddler Stuff Pack. While the wait continues for the introduction of the infant life stage, some modders can fill in the gaps for pregnancy gameplay, and toddler gameplay, in The Sims 4.
8 Nursery Playroom Set
The Nursery Playroom Set expands on toys and objects for the little ones to play with. TheGoldSim included a dollhouse highchair, doll crib, doll changing table, stroller, and fashion dolls as functional items. Toddlers can increase their imagination skill while playing with these objects, as well as their Fun need.
To add an utterly adorable detail, these dolls can also be carried around in baby carriers. The set also includes decor for playrooms, animations, and buffs for toddler Sims' imaginations to run wild.
7 Playful Toddler Pack
Children Sims have mods tailored to their gameplay, and so do toddler Sims. Pandasama gives tiny tots more toys in this pack, such as a car track toy, play dough, and a toy food truck. Notably, the Playful Toddler Pack also comes with a functional crib.
Toddlers in The Sims 4 age up with more independence than their The Sims 3 and The Sims 2 counterparts. They can semi-stumble, as opposed to crawling, and they sleep in toddler beds vs cribs. With the addition of this functional crib mod, players can now lock their toddlers in these cribs if they want a break - and have another sleeping option.
6 First Birthday Party For Toddlers
Sims can throw a catch-all birthday event with all of its associated event goals for their toddlers when they want to age them up, but modder Caradriel released a mod that gives toddlers their particular birthday party.
My First Birthday Party sets itself apart from the typical birthday party with toddler-centered event goals and object requirements. The event requires a puppet theater, a jungle gym slide, and a cooler. Two of the required objects come from the toddler stuff pack. When toddlers blow out the candles, they age up normally to the child life stage.
5 Toddler Sickness
Modder NateTheL0ser created the Toddler Sicknesses and Stacking Symptoms mod to give toddlers in The Sims 4 some added realism. Some players seek out more realistic mods for their gameplay, and toddlers can finally be like their real-life counterparts when they get sick. Runny noses, and all.
Toddlers can get sick through logical contact events like the daycare rabbit hole and Sim-to-Sim contagion. The mod gives toddlers moodlets related to their illnesses, and different toddler traits can even react differently to sickness.
4 Toddler Sized Furniture
With increased toddler independence in The Sims 4, comes the ability for toddlers to use big people furniture. Toddlers have typical high chairs, but there isn't a huge variety of toddler-sized furniture.
Around the Sims 4 has created toddler-sized tables, chairs, and booster seats. Toddlers can be fed on their little table and chair system just like they can be fed in the normal high chair, and the booster seats provide the same function.
3 High Chair Lock
After the popularity of challenges like the 100 Baby Challenge, 7 Toddler Challenge, and the Too Many Toddlers scenario, players might be well acquainted with some bugs associated with the toddler high chair system.
Sims have been known to fail at giving their toddlers food and drinks on the high chair, as well as constantly picking them up. Before any other action can be completed in the queue, Sims pick up toddlers out of the high chair and place them on the ground. Pandasama solves this problem with the High Chair Lock mod. Simply put, high chairs can now be locked to prevent Sims from picking up their little ones too early.
2 Active Daycare Career
The Sims 3 had an active daycare career that gave Sims the ability to run a daycare in their homes. The Sims 4 doesn't have this active career among its other active careers, like the Freelancer career or the Paranormal Investigator career.
Modder ItsKatato brought back the active Daycare career with the mod Tumbling Tots Co/Active Daycare career. Sims can then actively participate in the raising of other Sims' toddlers instead of a nanny or a rabbit hole.
1 Preschool
The in-game options for toddler childcare in The Sims 4 are a nanny, and rabbit hole daycare. While high school Sims have the High School Years DLC, and child sims have a normal school rabbit hole, toddlers don't have an in-game school function. Adeepindigo has created an entire education overhaul mod, but there is a preschool function available for toddlers.
Toddlers can be enrolled in preschool and will attend it as a rabbit hole. The school hours are from 7.30 AM to 2.30 PM, and the option to go to preschool overrides the option to go to daycare when the parent Sim isn't on the lot.
