Though September 2022 was light on difficult Trophies for PlayStation users to hunt for, the games released in October bring a decent amount of challenging tasks to work on. While none are brutally time consuming like the challenges included in NBA 2K23, some require skill and practice, living up to the word difficult. For PlayStation users who take pride in obtaining tougher Trophies, there are several options to choose from.

Gamers eager to collect some difficult Trophies need look no further than the October PlayStation Plus lineup and two of this year’s biggest first-person shooters. While harder Trophies will not see players leveling up their PSN accounts any faster, they do come with an increased sense of pride, which is exactly what some people are looking for when filling out their digital Trophy cases.

Injustice 2

The inventive indie shooter Superhot has one particularly tough Trophy on its list called “Hercules.” This task asks players to complete every challenge, with a few in particular requiring expert knowledge of the game. Though Speedruns and Hard mode are doable, Impossible takes things to the next level, as it is a variation of Hard where guns only have one bullet. No restart is another toughie, as players cannot die at any point. Thankfully, the charming racing game Hot Wheels Unleashed has no permadeath requirements, with its only slightly difficult Trophy being “King of the City,” which asks gamers to complete the “unleashed goal” of every event. With the time attacks being a bit hard, gamers will need map knowledge and a good car to succeed.

As gamers wait for Injustice 3, they can keep playing Injustice 2, which was a free game for PlayStation Plus Essential members last month. Though its Trophy list is relatively simple apart from the extremely grindy “Master Of All Trades,” which pushes gamers to get every single fighter to level 20, “Cat Fight” is the most problematic objective on the list. Since Injustice 2 released during the height of loot boxes in games, it featured Mother Boxes as rewards, which were full of cosmetics and - unfortunately - some unique moves. One of these moves was “Cat Call” for Catwoman, and to get the “Cat Fight” Trophy, gamers had to defeat Cheetah with it. Sadly, even after hundreds of hours, some gamers can have poor RNG and never get this item to drop, locking them out of the Platinum.

Every Call of Duty game features a Veteran mode, with all varying in how challenging they are. The Veteran difficulty featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is thankfully not as unfair as Veteran from Call of Duty: World at War, but it is far from a cakewalk. The armored enemies featured in MW2 can be annoying, and the Tank fight against Graves is one of the few sections that feels unfair for those on higher difficulty levels. As such, finishing every level on Veteran for “Cutting Heads off Snakes” is a proper accomplishment.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Spec Ops mode also features a tough Trophy dubbed “Nobody was There,” which asks players to finish the mission Low Profile without being spotted. This is easier said than done, as gamers need a partner that will cooperate and a lot of knowledge about how to approach the various locations. With some of these areas guarded by enemy patrols and Juggernauts, or surrounded by traps, this can take a ton of practice. There is currently an exploit involving checkpoint reloads for those disinterested in earning this Trophy legitimately, but for those wanting to get it in one perfect run, it is far from easy.

While fans were wondering how Blizzard would approach the Overwatch 2 Trophy list, the answer was surprisingly simple: copy the first one. Though there are a few adjustments like battle pass levels being swapped with account levels, the list remains mostly the same, as do the hero-specific Trophies. As such, the challenging Trophies on the original list remain the toughest ones to get in Overwatch 2. Lucio’s “The Floor is Lava,” which requires 3 killing blows during a single wall ride, is an especially tough one. Zenyatta’s “Rapid Discord” is as well since players need 4 kills with this orb in 6 seconds, which is even harder since gamers are more spread out in 5v5.

With Kiriko’s “Yokai” asking players to cleanse five status effects with one Protection Suzu, and Junker Queen’s “Adrenaline Junkie” requiring seven wounds to be active at a single time, there are several tough Overwatch 2 Trophies for players to hunt for. With “The Friend Zone” Trophy that asks gamers to play with a friend being impacted by one of Overwatch 2’s many bugs, too, this list could take some serious work for PlayStation users to complete.
