What Are Throwing Stars in MW3?

The Throwing Star is a lethal projectile equipment in Modern Warfare 3 that inflicts a wounding effect on the enemy. This deadly weapon is swift and can take down foes at longer ranges, so players don’t have to get close or expose themselves to defeat their opponents. The Throwing Star in Modern Warfare 3 has 5 charges by default and a faster projectile and throwing speed than Throwing Knives.

Despite being a powerful weapon, the Throwing Star has its downfalls. It cannot be retrieved once thrown, and players need two body hits with the weapon to kill the enemy (one hit only wounds the target).

How to Unlock Throwing Stars in MW3

The only way to unlock MW3 Throwing Stars is to get 50 kills using Throwing Knives, but players must reach level 55 to do this. Throwing Knives are another lethal projectile equipment in MW3, but they’re available to every player from the start. Unlike the Throwing Star, which is a two-hit kill weapon, Throwing Knives are a one-hit kill, so players can take down enemies with a single hit. However, players must be precise to ensure the knife hits the target and causes devastating damage.

Getting 50 kills with the Throwing Knife can be difficult, especially for players who struggle with precision and accuracy. It’s advisable to opt for smaller maps like 24/7 Rust game mode with narrow and tight corridors to increase precision. Since the Throwing Knife doesn’t have a long-range, players are more likely to get kills in smaller maps where enemies are close and bundle up in hallways and corridors. The narrow spaces also make it easier to hit the target with the knife without worrying too much about precision. Players who successfully get 50 kills using knives will unlock the Throwing Star.
