A trick has been found that allows players to continue sprinting infinitely in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Tactical Sprint is an ability that allows the player to run and move faster for a short period until the cooldown kicks in. With a simple trick, Modern Warfare 2 players have been able to circumvent the cooldown period and continue to sprint seemingly infinitely.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the latest game in the massively popular first-person shooter Call of Duty franchise. The game launched in a two-stage format with first single-player only Early Access to those that pre-ordered and a week later as a complete, official release. Modern Warfare 2 offers various multiplayer modes, updated Gunsmith customization from Modern Warfare, and is going to be updated with Raids for more team play-oriented content.

In Modern Warfare 2, players can choose to point their guns at the sky and focus on traversing as fast as possible using the sprinting mechanism found in recent Call of Duty games. With Tactical Sprint shooting is not available to the player but gaining position over your enemies often more than warrants the vulnerability. To make this ability more balanced, Infinity Ward has given it a cooldown that activates after a couple of seconds of sprinting. However, players have managed to find a loophole in the tactical sprint and melee.

It's a simple mechanic where the player needs to use the close combat ability to reset the sprinting cooldown. There seems to be a glitch that allows the restoration of the sprint right after the cooldown start with just a push of the melee attack button, similar to a glitch in Modern Warfare. The sprint is right away again available to be used, and the chained seemingly forever. It's unclear whether this mechanic was meant to work with a melee attack on enemies, perhaps to allow escape after a punch. However, it was most likely not intended to be used after punching air, if anything.

This isn't the only issue Infinity Ward has been tasked with since the Modern Warfare 2 launch. Just recently Infinity Ward announced that it has re-enabled Modern Warfare 2's attachment tuning feature, which had caused crashes in some cases. It's not yet clear whether anything was done to the sprint glitch, but the developer has promised to release update details soon. The update is the first major patch since the release of the game, although smaller exploits have been already fixed.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
