Jumping into MLBThe Show 24's Road To The Show mode gives players the experience of working up through the ranks to eventually make the big leagues. Every position is available and while some positions are as easy as finding a weak spot to take over, the starting pitcher's job is much different. Teams work with a five-player rotation for this role, making it much more difficult to crack the lineup.

Some MLB The Show 24 Players Are Experiencing Frequent Crashing Issues

MLB The Show 24 officially launches, but a number of players are already dealing with frequent crashing issues in the game.

Most teams in MLB The Show 24 will have at least 1-2 quality starting pitchers, backed by three more that range anywhere from above average to mediocre. Finding that specific team that needs their top-five rotation is tough enough on its own, but factoring in that playoff-bound teams bring their three best starting pitchers makes it all that more challenging. Here are a few choices worth considering, backed by a quality team overall.

The Texas Rangers are an excellent team to jump into as a starting pitcher, for the opportunity alone of playing for the defending World Series Champion. Their pitching rotation doesn't feature any ratings above 84, and getting into the top-five starters requires an average of 71. This can be accomplished within the first few months of the Road To The Show playthrough, if the stats justify the promotion.

To be suited for the playoff picture, players will need to bump out the 75-rated third starter, which shouldn't be too difficult a task. Playing on a team with an above-average infield, backed by a 98-overall shortstop, should make life easy on the mound. In MLB The Show 24, the team reflects the greatness of what its real-life counterpart showcased.

While the real-life New York Mets crashed and burned in 2023, the team in MLB The Show 24 delivers what could have been. An outfield capable of playing above average, solid closing pitchers, and a shortstop with a 90-overall rating. The five-man starting rotation leaves room for improvement, as the fifth-best pitcher comes in with an overall of 67.

Reaching an overall of 76 will help players reach playoff performer status, as the Mets don't have the depth at this position. Sure, the Mets may not be in the discussion for one of the best teams in MLB The Show 24, but with some help, a repeat of their 2023 performance is unlikely.

For players hoping to help rebuild a team's confidence, the Pittsburgh Pirates may be the team to join. Their starting pitching rotation is among the worst in MLB The Show 24, so much so that securing a top-three role and potential playoff spot can be done in a matter of months. There's a lot to be done in terms of the infield and outfield, but a change to the mound is a good start.

That said, it's possible that the Pirates won't be a playoff team for at least another season or two. The job in Pittsburgh will require a ton of patience, even after securing a primary role with the club. This may not be the job for the faint of heart, but pitchers in MLB The Show 24 that are looking for a challenge will find one with the Pirates.

Speaking of teams rebuilding, the only team with a more abysmal starting rotation is the Colorado Rockies. They are in dire need of help, as they have just one starter with an overall rating of above 70, and their closer and relief pitchers aren't any better. The Rockies will serve as a long-time commitment, though becoming their star can be done in the first season.

Sony San Diego Studio Games That Aren't MLB The Show

While San Diego Studio's MLB The Show may be the biggest name associated with it, the studio has a long history of Sony-published games.

It's rather telling of a team's poor construction when the only player rated above 80 is the right outfielder. They finished dead last in the MLB in 2023, losing a franchise-high 103 games, and firing their hitting coach. Getting an ace starter into their lineup is a nice start, but maybe play MLB The Show 24 in easy mode to avoid stressful games.

The San Diego Padres are a good compromise for players looking to hop on board a decent team that has the tools to succeed but needs some help in a few areas. The Padres have a well-rounded top-three starters, making it more difficult to sneak into a playoff roster spot. Players will have to reach an 80 overall to do so, or otherwise ride the pine during the post-season.

The Padres need some maintenance, particularly two parts of their outfield and some help from the relief and closing pitchers. Be sure to attach some of the equipment available in MLB The Show 24 to ensure that the pitcher will pack some heat in their pitching arsenal and make a case for one of the top three spots.
