The shortstop position in MLBThe Show 24 requires plenty of skill and the ability to react and assess each situation. It's not an easy job, but some of the best players in the league have been historically found in this position, including the likes of Derek Jeter and Ernie Banks.

MLB The Show has been on the newest hardware for a few years now, and The Show 24 has a chance to use that hardware to make major improvements.

Players jumping into MLB The Show 24's Road To The Show can choose their desired destination pre-draft, with their performance at the combine dictating how high (or low) they will be taken in the draft. Since the shortstop position is crucial to a team's infield success, here are five teams that could use the player's help immediately.

There are many areas where the Cleveland Guardians can improve upon, considering their below-average outfield cast and a hole at the shortstop position. It's a shame to let this spot go to waste, as their first and third basemen are exceptional players, mixed in with an efficient bullpen. They're one good shortstop away from securing an infield threat in the league.

Strap on the best equipment in MLB The Show and take to the field with the Guardians. Securing a 70 overall in the minor leagues can be accomplished in a matter of months, and the position is well surrounded by a tight cast of quick thinkers that keep runners off the bases.

If rebuilding is the preferred method of playing Road To The Show, the Oakland Athletics are a good bet. To put it simply, they stink and need help in almost every position. The Athletics have no players with an overall of 80 or higher, and many below 70. It may even take a few years to reach playoff contention unless they improve their team drastically.

Making the Athletics main roster won't be too hard, but winning games is another story. Expect to see plenty of action and potential for many double plays in each game. The Athletics have poor pitching and an infield that lacks substance, making the life of a shortstop a difficult one to get through during a long season.

An option to play for a team well on their way up is the Miami Marlins. With a good starting pitcher rotation and some promise in both the infield and outfield, the only thing missing to tie it together is a shortstop with some velocity. The first and second basemen are somewhat suspect, with 76 and 78 overall respectively, but this shouldn't be too much of a problem when orchestrating some close outs.

The only other questionable spot in the lineup is in right field, where the best player available holds a 67 overall rating. This shouldn't be too big a problem, as the rest of the outfield is above average. They're saved by excellent depth in the pitching department and an infield that can keep balls within the diamond.

For players looking to join one of the best teams in MLB The Show 24, look no further than the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their starting rotation is ridiculous, and their infield is only held back by a weaker shortstop. Considering they have two players with an overall of 99, and plenty in the 90s, the Dodgers are well-built and could use the services of a shortstop with an average of above 71.

Considering most shortstops will start in the high 50s and low 60s, reaching the best overall in the Dodgers' lineup shouldn't take more than a few months in the minor leagues. The Dodgers are built as a playoff team, and the possibility of becoming the savior this team needs to push them from pretender to contender lies in the hands of the players.

The San Francisco Giants are craving to get out of the average department. Their starting rotation is good but lacks depth, as too does their outfield. The shortstop position is one of the weakest on the team, with the best player rating at 66. This needs desperate improvement, and a couple of good stretches in the minors should be more than enough to make a case.

The incentive to play for the Giants is that they do have promising signs of building towards a brighter future. Some minor tweaks to their top-five rotation and better results from their infield could make all the difference in the world. To improve their chances, make life easy in MLB The Show 24 by filling in the gap at shortstop and becoming the hero they deserve.
