Sometimes players put hours of hard work into a character and find that the position they play just isn't their favorite. In MLB The Show 23, this can happen for a variety of reasons. Gamers may feel the fielding opportunities aren't exciting. Or a higher-ranked player in their position will keep them stuck in the minor leagues for several years.

But it's not always a simple thing. When making the character, players can choose for their player to be any position but this option is missing when examing the player options after starting a character in MLB The Show 23's Road to the Show.

Changing Positions Mid-Career

  1. Tell the agent about the issue.
  2. Tell the manager about a desired position.
  3. Equip an appropriate skill set.

This process is more difficult but not impossible. Of the two choices, this one allows gamers to keep their statistical progress. After playing a few series, the agent will call. Tell him the problem and he'll get the manager in touch with the player.

Most of the time, the manager will accept this change but it will take a few series to work out as they trade other players to get some room on the team. Make sure to equip a new skill set to match the new position. There are plenty of teams that need starting pitchers, so most teams would welcome that change.

Starting A New Character

The best way to guarantee a switch is to start a new character. It can be frustrating to start all over again, but all the equipment that players have unlocked will still be unlocked as will any skill sets and perks.

Players that want to get called up soon in Road to the Show can do it after just an hour or two of gameplay and within the first few months of the in-game season.

MLB The Show 23 is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
