For the first time ever, MLB The Show 22 will be playable on the Nintendo Switch console, and the latest trailer gives baseball fans an in-depth look into some of the modes featured in the franchise's newest installment. The trailer stars the returning puppet mascot Coach in the newest advertisement for the game, promoting the Switch's portable capabilities, playing anywhere from a public bathroom to the moon.

In two minutes, Coach discusses the player's ability to stay on top of the game's updates and season progression with the Switch, as the system allows gamers to bring the game anywhere provided the player has access to an internet connection. MLB The Show 22 allows players to play in exhibition mode with one joy-con, allowing two players to compete against one another with one set of joy-cons, perfect for long road trips or family vacations.

The Road to the Show mode features an RPG-style experience where players can build up a roster of customized players and play through a season while collecting various baseball legends and other content to add to their teams. Diamond Dynasty also makes its return to MLB The Show 22 with another year of card-collecting fun, featuring a new Mini Series mode, where players can take on new challenges every season. Switch players will also have the ability to play the game against PlayStation and Xbox users as the title promises to be cross-platform.

Sony Interactive Entertainment deserves some credit in its attempt to drive up interest on the new console, showcasing Shohei Ohtani in their commercial while promoting the two-way style of playing baseball in-game. Ohtani, the big-name pitcher and designated hitter for the Los Angeles Angels, is the cover art athlete of MLB The Show 22 and prides himself on excelling both offensively and defensively. The marketing team of this year's game is making it its mission to focus in on the star's popularity, even creating an anime-inspired cover art for the MVP Edition.

Fans of the franchise can also enjoy the March To October mode, which allows players to bypass the 162-game regular season and manage a customized team to greatness. The intro presentations in the trailer give the audience a good impression of the visual qualities and graphical capabilities of the Switch port, appearing to be upgraded when compared to how the game looked in the tech test release. The MLB The Show 22 tech demo, which began on February 17 and will last through until February 23, received criticism for the game's lack of quality in terms of aspect ratio, claiming the problem is a reoccurring one when it comes to sports games being ported.

MLB The Show 22 releases on April 5 for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
