Given Raiden's importance to the series' lore, he was always likely to play a significant role in Mortal Kombat 1. However, rather than being the Thunder God as he was in previous installments, MK1's version of Raiden is actually a human who serves as Earthrealm's champion at the Outworld tournament. He still has command over electricity though, as evidenced by his electrifying Fatalities.

Both of Raiden's Mortal Kombat 1 Fatalities revolve around thunder, though rather than commanding the element innately, he does so using a special amulet that was given to him by Liu Kang. Performing Raiden's MK1 Fatalities isn't particularly difficult, though players may benefit from checking out the following demonstration videos just to get a better idea of how far away from their opponent they need to be standing in order to successfully pull them off.

Raiden's first MK1 Fatality is called The Storm's Arrival and can be triggered by pressing back, forward, back, back punch while standing close to a dazed kombatant. If triggered correctly, Raiden will launch the other fighter high into the air and use his command of electricity to blast a hole through their chest. He then jumps through the hole and splits the body in two before slamming the two pieces together so that they explode into a cloud of blood and bones.

To perform Raiden's second Fatality, Mortal Kombat 1 players will need to press down, forward, back, front punch from medium range. It sees Raiden zapping the other fighter with electricity until all of their flesh has been completely vaporized and all that remains is a skeleton. Not content with the brutal manner in which he just murdered his enemy though, he then proceeds to dive into the skeleton headfirst, breaking it up into tiny little pieces.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.
