After the massive bombshell concerning Avos Dilhevia's true identity and form got dropped, Anos Voldigoad and his troops are left with even more questions than answers, not to mention a shrinking pool of allies. The delicate balance between purebloods and hybrids has been knocked completely off-kilter, with Delsgade baring the bulk of the brunt, as Avos' base of operations.

Anos and his loyal followers make their way into the enemies' territory and discover that not all have succumbed to Demera's mind-numbing influence. Although the almighty Demon Elders are no longer at Anos' disposal, the True Demon King of Tyranny still has admirers, willing to fight, and possibly die, for the cause.

Symbols, Spells, and Strategies

Misfit of Demon King Academy Season II Episode 6 review Revest Aynie and Menou Historia with Anos Voldigoad and his subordinates

Anos and his team are undercover, roaming the halls of Delsgade, when they come across Revest Aynie and Menou Historia amidst a hoard of Avos devotees. After Anos subtly makes his presence known, the pair break off from the pack to reconnect with the Demon King and formulate a plan out of this mess. Most of Delsgade's Demon occupants are under the brainwashing influence of Demera, whereas the hybrids have been imprisoned as Magic Power boosters, to snack on at will.

To uncover more information on their enemy, Anos plans to use Revalon on the treasure house; however, in normal circumstances, Time Magic cannot reach two centuries into the past. To boost his chances of success, the True Demon King wields the Scythe of the Timekeeper and, with the help of his subordinates' transferred powers, they all travel back to moments after Anos' death. Sasha and the crew question whether they could simply alter history to their favor; however, Anos assures them that the Gods of Time will restore any damage because messing with the timeline is prohibited during great conflict.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Misfit of Demon King Academy Season II Episode 6 review Shin, The Great Spirit Leno and Zeshia

The rumors previously heard in Aharther lead Anos to believe that Gairadite should hold all the answers, being the Hero Kanon's old stomping grounds, and all. As a refreshing change of pace, the group begins with some sightseeing, leaving only the humans visible, with the hopes of finding some tasty treats along the way. The town is in the throws of celebrating the Demon King's demise, which Anos appears to find amusing (perhaps because he knows that his sacrifice made others happy, after all.)

Zeshia's dream comes true when she locates a Holy Light Candy stall, prompting Anos to treat his girls, who proceed to buy every last lolly available. Moments later, The Great Spirit Leno arrives with the same idea in mind and is devastated to see the shelves bare, blaming Shin (who dons Avos' helmet to hide his demonic lineage) for their tardiness. The pair bicker like a married couple before Zeshia takes the initiative by offering to share her Candy, completely oblivious of who she has befriended. However, Anos recognizes his old companions immediately and, keen to uncover the cause of Leno's death, discretely follows the couple back to the Great Spirit Forest.

The Fairies in the Forest

Misfit of Demon King Academy Season II Episode 6 review Anoshu Polticoal and the Travelling Entertainers

The inquisitive squad's cover is blown quite quickly when The Divine Beast Gwen begins its assault, while viewers return to the flashback scene first introduced in Season 2, episode 1 (the extended version.) Sensing that Shin might need some assistance, Anos takes a hands-on approach to help Sasha with her spellcasting, causing her Demon Eyes of Destruction to flair up alongside the butterflies in her stomach, which subsequently reveals their position. Curiosity takes precedence over cation as Anos proceeds forward, after first altering his appearance to resemble that of a child. Introducing himself as Anoshu Polticoal, he and his fellow "Travelling Entertainers" charm the socks of Leno, while Shin seems to realize the truth of the matter, but chooses to play along nevertheless.

When questioned about Lena's identity, the Great Mother Spirit initially clams up, before pulling Anos aside to reveal the truth. Their mysterious companion is actually the Love Fairy Fran, who "gives shape to unrequited love and brings people together;" a fact which should never get mentioned to the girl. As part of her Spirit Lore, she is meant to be in constant pursuit of her truth, which shouldn't be disclosed until she remembers Love, first. Unrequited love seems to perfectly describe Leno and Shin's situation; could this be a link? It's tough to dismiss the similarities between the two Spirits; maybe they are one and the same, or Lena was possibly born from Leno's death. The truth lies just around the corner.

The Brotherhood of Blades

Misfit of Demon King Academy Season II Episode 6 review Anoshu Polticoal, Shin and Lay

Suddenly, another great beast pops up out of nowhere and charges at the party, but for some reason, Shin isn't the one to take up arms, as Lay is already on it! However, he was not able to bring his weaponry with him into the past, which he only discovers once elbow-deep in the creature's mouth. Thankfully, Shin is in a sharing mood and quickly responds to Anoshu's request to summon the Unique Sword Sigshesta, aka the Sword of Intent, which is subsequently hurled in Lay's direction, even though Shin isn't convinced the younger can wield the Demon Blade.

The hybrid exceeds expectations and skillfully ends the monster with one swing, impressing Shin and gaining an extension on his custody of the mighty weapon, along with the promise of a friendly fight between the two sword masters. It seems that Anos' besties will have no problem getting along, although it is still unclear as to why Shin adopted the Spirit King's moniker and the accompanying tyrannous attitude. Paternal instincts are potentially to blame, as protecting Avos Dilhevia's Lore is paramount to Misa's survival. How she adopted the Demon King of Tyranny's persona in the first place remains a mystery, unless she just happens to be two thousand years old with no recollection of her history, save for the past fifteen years or so.
