Frog lovers have a lot to enjoy in Minecraft's most recent update - tadpoles, frogspawn, and frogs themselves have graced the game's swamp biomes, and when they aren't eating things they shouldn't, the cute amphibians can even be used as a source of the atmospheric froglight blocks.

Alongside the gameplay updates and improvements, several 'advancements' were added for players to unlock. This Minecraft guide will help players unlock the 'When The Squad Hops Into Town' advancement, which requires them to embrace their status as 'lord of the frogs' by having one of each frog type on a lead at the same time.

How To Get (And Craft) Leads

Making leads in minecraft

Naturally, to have anything on a lead, players will need to find or craft one - they can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Separating a Wandering Trader from their llamas, by killing or moving them far apart
  • Looting chests in a Woodland Mansion
  • Looting chests in Ancient Cities
  • Crafted with four strings and one slimeball in the shape of the image above - this yields two leads, and at least three are needed.

Leads can then be used on most neutral and passive creatures by interacting with (not hitting) them. When a creature is on a lead, the player can then interact with a fence to attach them to it, ensuring they can't get very far.

How To Get & Breed Frogs

Minecraft Green Cold Biome Frogs

An adorable addition to Minecraft's growing collection of animals, these long-tongued amphibians love slimeballs and can prove to be an excellent feature in any player's terrarium. As this advancement requires players to find frogs in each of the three possible colors, they should be prepared for a fairly complicated process that involves breeding frogs and taking their tadpoles to grow up in specific biomes. Frogs can be found naturally spawning swamp and mangrove swamp biomes, and the steps to breed them are listed below.

  • Find two frogs
  • Feed them 1x slimeball each
  • Follow the frogs to a nearby water source
  • Wait for the frogspawn to hatch - it can't be picked up, even with a silk touch pickaxe
  • Use a bucket to scoop up the tadpoles that spawn

With the tadpoles safely tucked away in the player's bucket, they unlock the 'Bukkit Bukkit' advancement and then need to travel across the land to create frogs of specific colors. To do this, players must:

FOR ORANGE FROGS

  • Find a 'temperate' biome (Forests, Swamps, Plains, Hills, etc.)
  • Put the tadpole in the biome's water
  • Wait for it to become a frog or feed it several slimeballs until it becomes a frog

FOR GREEN FROGS

  • Find a 'cold' biome (Mountains, Snowy Taiga, Cold Oceans, etc.)
  • Put the tadpole in the biome's water (making sure it doesn't freeze)
  • Wait for it to become a frog or feed it several slimeballs until it becomes a frog

FOR WHITE FROGS

  • Find a 'warm' biome (Jungles, Deserts, Swamps, Warm Oceans, etc.)
  • Put the tadpole in the biome's water
  • Wait for it to become a frog or feed it several slimeballs until it becomes a frog

Frogs are, unsurprisingly, very good at jumping - to make sure they don't hop over fences and de-spawn while working on spawning the other frogs they need, players should consider:

  • Putting their frogs in small rooms with ceilings
  • Putting honey blocks on the floor of their enclosures to stop them from jumping
  • Attaching nametags to the frogs to be certain they won't de-spawn
  • Using a lead to tie the frogs to a fence

When they've turned tadpoles into at least one frog of each color, all players have left to do is put the three frogs on leads at the same time, and this advancement will unlock.

Minecraft is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and other platforms.
